Cecilia: Not sure where you got your Havanese but what they do those first 10 weeks do start them out to gaining understanding. Is your Havanese treat motivated? Is she toy motivated? Have you taken her to class and what age is she? I find them very smart and easily trainable if you are consistent and use techniques that really get them wanting to do what you ask. If you have not rid areas of the odor (you may not be able to smell it) from earlier mistakes, they will think this is the place to go. It isn't them being stubborn but they think - smell - ah that's where I go. There are products that mask but do not truly get rid of the smell.

My havanese is extremely stubborn! We give her lots of love, but she refuses to take direction. She's doing OK on the potty training side. I'm very confused as to how to train this particular breed. I had a Tibetan before and they are very submissive and obedient. Your advise would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry about that Truffie, it is time to share the spotlight. I love hearing about
Truffie's adventures. I guess because he is so close in age to Kona.

Glad you are persevering. A paw wask makes much sense except for me so its leave the mop out and keep changing the water, I am afraid. I never wished for snow so much. :-(

Yes, we are! Cody loves to play in the mud but at least it's just one dog. When he comes in,I have to give him a little "paw bath" which he doesn't love but he tolerates. It's so funny though....Cody used to lay for me so nicely to brush him all over and then would roll onto his back on his own but not anymore! He's fighting it the entire time now. I'm not sure what happened but I am persevering. I can't even begin to imagine trying to keep up with the mud with all your dogs Darlah. It would be a full time job I think LOL!

The snow we got today will just bring wet and snowballs. I like that better than brown sandy dirt mixed with rain.

who can resist. stella can be freshly brushed and within minutes she looks scruffy. i think you said risa has always had bad hair days. stella is follwing in grandmas foot steps. she always manages to have a devil/angel look on her face,looking for the next thing to get into or maybe just snuggle. i understand now how you get hooked on havanese !!
