We are going to only update this blog when people send us updates.

It's time to go back to just the All About Our Dogs and Fiona's blog till something new comes up.

We still want to hear about the pups but its time to spend more time getting things done before Fiona has pups.

Abigail is still attached at the hip to me. She's losing all her puppy weight and her hair is starting to get back to normal. She may be going to visit Shelley and Al who has Breeze and Chinook next month at their cottage. We will post photos about that but till then or someone sending us an update it's been a slice, as they say.

Do still post and keep reading as this lull will change and this place in a little over a month will be crazy with pups and fun again. Till then do read Fiona's blog and our All About Dogs as they will be updated daily.

Abigail Training

This was Abigail training with her Daddy. She was such a funny dog in the ring. She had no patience for practice, practice, practice.

She once laid down in obedience class and said I have had enough.

One day at a show where we had a morning show and an afternoon show she decided to lay down in the ring in the morning and get this go to sleep. She was not in the mood. The judge laughed but she didn't get any points.

We almost left in the afternoon cause we figured she was tired or this was a yawn. I think the yawn summed it up.

But we stuck around and I groomed her, Nathan showed her and she won and won and won, best of breed, best puppy and on and on.

That was our Abigail finishing her championship with a bang. She did things when she wanted to not exactly when you wanted to. Plus I rather figure she knew if I do this like you want me to then you are going to take me home and let me play and stop this crazy show business and we did. :-)

Miss Abigail has some pretty amazing pups so she knew this show business was a silly sideline for her.

Some like it, some don't. But handling class is excellent training even if you never show as it helps your dog relax in strange situations, on tables, people man handling you in all sorts of strange places and you are exposed to so many dogs.

Pavie Update

It was downright hot and I am now wondering why the pool is not open but I have so much to do that anytime soon will just distract me.

They say rain tomorrow so I will have to clean my office....hahahahahaha... right.

Abigail is my gal through and through. If I am staining a table she is there waiting for me to finish. If I am watering the plants (sprinkler system is leaking) she is right there.

We had to put out some of the plants in the house today. Tomorrow the rest unless it pours. We shall see.

The dogs spent a lot of time outdoors with me. We played and they went after the hose cooling off but not Abigail. She wanted to lounge on the pad and watch.

Simba - Fiona's boy went after the hose like it was the best toy in town. I had to get him dried before he went home. I love a dog that loves water. He makes me laugh and laugh - what a great dog!

Truffie took all the ice out of a water dish to play with those. Yes, whem it is hot I add ice cubes. I think the dogs found their own way to cool off but that pool opening may have helped but it wouldn't have helped me get things done, now would it?

Panda & Grooming

If Panda had her druthers she would be playing, running under the deck, rolling in the manure and well having a grand old time.

I went out to get my mail. Okay, a day late. I just wanted to see if the whitener I get from Doug has arrived. It will probably come Monday but in amongst the bills was a fabulous surprise.

What I want to know is BEFORE you got Laci how did your grandchild have a stuffed toy that looks like her and how did you find this card?

It surely brightened my day. Thank you!

Our son who was supposed to come up next month can't. He lives in Florida. He is moving as he had a 4.0 and got accepted to his first choice university so he can pursue his medical degree. I am happy for him but I will miss seeing him and my darling daughter-in-law.

Our local daughter is busy doing mom stuff and planning and gardening as she has a big event for our grand daughter next month that we will all attend. I tried to spend thye day helping her with her gardening but the day I was available she was not. She sounds too busy.

Our friend Yvonne will come in for the day to watch the dogs next month. Good news - not on Mother's Day but our daughter from North Carolina will be up with her 2 kids for it - the rest can't make it. One is in Israel, one in Portland - just not doable - sad but a reality.

Me, I am going to go check out those new plants from Loblaws - Honey Bee petunias - looks dramatic and fun and a multi coloured (tricolour) arrangement of hibiscus as I have plant pots to fill. Nathan tells me (he gets out more than I) that the plants at Canadian Tire is better but maybe we will hit a garden center up the street as we have to pick up Jazzy (close to that garden centre) who is coming to play.

That's my mom's day. I am not going to groom all weekend long and Nathan is washing and grooming Jlo on Sunday so I have a break - nice! But that front yard needs work so maybe today. Right now I woudl say no. hahahah

Thank you Laci and Deb for brightening my weekend. Hope you have a fab Mother's day!!

Panda's Wind Swept Look

I gave Panda a bath. I had this idea that I would get Panda and Logan bathed so when Jon, Lynda's son came to pick them up I would take a photo but he was a tad late so I sent Nathan out to take a couple of photos while I finished drying Risa.

The photos aren't bad (EVERYONE LOOKED GOOD EXCEPT PANDA'S HAIR WAS IN HER FACE) but he should have fixed Panda's hair.

Cooper and Logan is home, Jlo showed up late in the day. It's a quiet day without the party boys.

Sometimes your Havanese likes to just chill. There is nothing wrong with them. They are simply playing recovery.

I can't begin to tell you how many times we got a call after a puppy was playing here that they think something is wrong as their pup only wants to chill or sleep.

Just like humans they also need downtime. Without downtime your body will be stressed and you are more apt to get sick and that's true of dogs too actually.

So after Cooper went Logan, Roxie, Panda and Spice just chilled and me, I washed. heh

PS: This Sunday is Mother's Day. I hope all the moms have an outstanding day even if it is simply chillin' as we need that too!

Tre's Lifestyle

When you think your dog is in a funk and she lightens up when the pups come and go you tend to worry when they go what she will then do.

But I know from the past that it brings closure for them and for us. Sure you still miss them but you see how happy they are and you go, then that's the way it should be!

Since the puppy visit Abigail has found her full out play again with Roxie and Panda. The 2 daughters are rather pleased that mom is playing full on with them like she did before pups. It's not as if she forgets about them. She actually still plays with them but her focus is on the pups and rightly so. When the pups are gone moms can go back to teaching and playing and that is exactly what she has done.

Interesting enough Treasure has found her fondness for Monty, her son.

Someone asked do they remember and I think they always do but some feel their job is done. Other times their focus has to be on other things like pups. In some ways not falling back into that 'the way it was' is healthier for mom and pup. They end up truly moving on but as I see Treasure investing her time with Monty I see she is missing that connection too.

I am lucky as I truly have great moms.

On Sunday I think the moms are going to get an extra treat. They deserve it!! I hope all of the new puppy moms also get an extra treat. You too deserve it!

Perhaps now you understand why we do these puppy visits. Over the years we found it was important to do them for us, for the canine moms and the new parents. I wish other breeders did similar.

Video Coming

I am uploading the video to Youtube of our get together and it will be posted here as soon as it makes its way up. Here it is.

We are still working on photos - may not get to the video till tomorrow but the photos will get up. Half my stick was corrupted - 1st time that happened. Got a lot that weren't but there goes that stick. I use them so much that it happens. :-( Just shouldn't happen when I care.

Did anyone else have photos to share? Send me email with the link, please! I will share here!
