Nami was feeding all 8. Tonight Hallie fed all 8. Are they taking turns? Pups don't care and it seems that the moms do not either. Never had them taking turns, LOL

Pups went up to play upstairs in the hall. It was their first time. 

They do not miss a beat. They are curious and truly fun pups - all 8. Never a bit of hesitancy. Yes, both litters and they play at the same level. 

They have been eating kibble but they throw it all over the place like its little toys. Hope that passes.

5 Weeks 4 Days

How did the pups do? They fussed a little. One tried to climb up the xpen but then settled in and mostly slept. I call this a huge success and as each day goes by, they get used to the routine and will wait to be brought downstairs. 

They started eating softened kibble but with their teeth, we may be able not to soften. We have caught a few eating kibble so it may be time. They are growing up so fast.

They are getting better at climbing, hop running and the play gets better and better and oh ouch they have teeth. I have to find pacifiers for them. I may have some in the freezer. They chew to soothe their mouths during this time.

They already had 1 play session out and I will be uploading those videos. I am going to try to get Nathan to do the next session so Dennis and I can relax before our week on our own. We shall see how that goes.

Hallie kept me up for most of the night. That is her usual so my watch said I had just under 5 hours of broken sleep. I am hoping tonight is better.

If I am short on blogs, it is only till Saturday so just realize I am doing the best that I can. 

All 8 pups are pretty outstanding. There are a couple that have minds thinking to find solutions like double mask that escapes, mustache gal that was pretty much 1st on every try. They are all outstanding and I will tell you about the rest as there are no slouches. Some are quieter than others. Oh and the black and white Hallie pups is slimming down and he thinks play is the name of the game.

5 Weeks 3 Days

The pups will be heading upstairs tonight without their moms. I will take videos and photos that you will see tomorrow.

This double mask boy can easily jump out of the pen if the door is open. He not only is agile, he is mighty smart. He is quite the character.

The pups are doing well but I am out of time. I have many dogs to groom tonight so will try to upload videos as I groom. Dennis said he will take the pups out for their 2nd round so no photos - sorry. 

All bowels remain good and the one that wasn't drinking sufficient water is now.

We are all on track for upstairs. We shall see how they do.

5 Days 2 Days

Please realize that there are also some photos that include the Hallie pups as we do have them together and to be honest, I am doing so many blogs and galleries and videos that I may have a wrong puppy but you can figure that out - can't you? LOL

As these are the pups that are older, you can still see some differences but those differences are getting smaller and they will continue to do so. 

Yesterday I mentioned that the pups were eating with gusto. They still are but the Hallie pups have also started eating with a similar enthusiasm. Give it a day or two and you will not see any difference. The younger set with start attempting to do what the Nami set is doing and it will all fade. 

The pups so enjoy their outings out and if the weather allows, next week while Nathan is gone, I may take them out on the deck. Now that will be fun. 

We will be placing the pups upstairs starting tomorrow night. All are eating and drinking. 

Yet another stage is about to begin. Imagine that!

5 Weeks 1 Day

Did I tell you both litters have teeth and I mean multiple teeth. Had not realized it till a day or 2 ago when one was eating my feet or nibbling it. I am going to have to do some teeth toys.

They are still eating with gusto. Stools are solid but one had too dry of a stool that tells me it needs to drink more fluid than just mom. Otherwise everyone else's output in both litters is good.

They do attempt to play with each other. 

Our goal is to get them eating and drinking then going upstairs before nathan goes out of town for a week. Dennis will have to sleep with some adult dogs and I some. We may be short blogging it. It all depends. We put the pups upstairs without moms to get them used to being without mom. It helps with the transition of going home. It is an important stage. We hope to accomplish before Nathan departs otherwise it will be an experience. LOL

5 Weeks Old

I will be adding videos after blogs. Pups continue to eat. Dennis did the blanket changes today which was really helpful as I remain sick. He doesn't do it like me and has his own ideas but a change is good too. 

Pups came out to the hall to play and Nathan was the bonus - which was nice.

4 Weeks 6 Days

I may have got the odd wrong photo in the gallery (sorry not doing well) but you can see the 2 litters together. I took out the Hallie pups then I had Nami pups join the Hallie pups then put Hallie pups back and then Nami's was alone and then they went back and ate food. 

How did they do? Amazing - both litters together. It was better than I imagined. 

I was on my own so it wasn't perfect but you will get the idea in the videos I am uploading after the blog. Even Yoshi played with the pups. It was all so magical.

4 Weeks 5 Days

Sorry but this will be short as I am really not feeling well. It started last night and it worsens today. 

I had intended on taking both sets of pups out in the hall today bit I can't. I am simply not up to it.

I have groomings tomorrow so I must get well. 

Pups are playing. Bowels remain good. They are eating today twice and drinking from more.

Water Introduced

Today the pups had 2 servings of food - actually 3 as 1st was a double dose. I would like to keep it at 2 till they are drinking sufficient water. 

One puppy sauntered over to the water bowl and drank. I think I skipped most and caught the tail end as I was videoing the Hallie pups - saw him and took him drinking at the end of Hallie's video. This was by himself. Can you guess who it was? You will have to watch the videos (uploading after this) to see the answer.

Next stage will be to get them out of the whelping box. When will that be? Soon...

4 Weeks 3 Days & More Solid

They fed late - sorry but they ate 2 cans of food. We shall see how that goes. They did more than fine overnight after feeding. They are digesting the food or I woukd have delayed a few days from feeding them more. 

They are also getting quite sure footed and they attempt to hop. I have to catch it as it is a riot.

I will upload the videos of them feeding after I finish the blogs. I know - I am way behind but not forgotten. 

Pups are getting mighty active. Dennis is going to try them on water tonight. I will let you know how that goes. They are usually not keen on it till 5 weeks about. They have mom to get their fluid from and initially that is what they know and enjoy.

4 Weeks 2 Days First

The pups had their 1st taste of solid food. You should look at the video to get a look at them in action.

They did amazing but they are 1 week ahead of Hallie's pups and this is the usual timeframe we try. Once I tried on 3 week pups as a mom had so many pups that she needed help and although they ate, they were not fully ready yet. This crew ate almost 2 bowls worth. Nami had to steal some. I do not mind as it is great nutrition for her too. 

Now I won't feed them solid till tomorrow. Why? You must see if their gastrointenstinal system is ready. Each system develops in their own time. If you see profuse output, loose stools, smell gassiness you try again in a few days. If you do not see these issues, you try feeding again tomorrow. This is important as everything is a guage to development. You do not just start food all day. This is a process and it is NOT an indicator of any issues. It simply means it is not time yet. We have had pups eat solids at 5 weeks vs 4. This is normal too. You don't want to create issues by overwhelming their little system too soon. 

The puppies, at this stage you can see the differences in development between the 2 litters. This is normal but once they hit the 4.5 and 5.5 age, those differences will start to fade. I have put together pups that are 10 days apart but not more till they are ready to go home. Everything is a process and not a race. Nor can you compare pups that are a week apart till they are older. They all play catchup. 

The pups did a great job with walking on the floor. They are already sure-footed. So that floor space will remain open so they can eat in this area and practice becoming comfortable walking on a floor that is more slippery than blankets. 

When I get to the pen in the morning, I will have to take a video as their little tails wag a mile a minute in excitement.

4 Weeks 1 Day Old

Pups are playing more and more now. We soon need to remove some of the blankets so they get used to the flooring. It is an important process to give them the experience of different textures and slipness.

Pups are curious with the pups between the bar. 

We will also need to put both litters together too. Lots of newness coming.

But we are still working on the hard drive along with all the rest so please understand and be patient. I am doing as much as I possibly can. 

Sometimes Nami doesn't want to stand up to feed all the time. She should though... as it is easier.

4 Weeks Plus Outdoors and Nails

The pups had a lot of newness today. They went outside minus the 1st born boy as he already went out yesterday and they all had their nails done.

All were calm and took it all in stride with wonderment. It was a good exposure.

1 Day Short of 4 Weeks: Gallery Updated

I will attempt to update the galleries as I am able to but depending on the hard drive, I may only be able to do the videos. It all depends when the hard drive arrives. I will do an update before we install the drive in both Nami and Hallie's gallery. 

Nathan is away soon for a week - joy for his guy trip so we go from this to that. 

Today, we will take more pups outside and this crew really needs their nails cut, The Hallie's pups not yet.

Pups are getting mighty active and I do want to try them on food tomorrow but depending on what else I have on my plate, I may wait. They are still gaining so there is no concern. When they feed solid food, their bodies react and initially the output is great till their system gets used to it. With the washer, I may have to delay a day or two. What to fix 1st - lol.

Pups have already started to slim down but not lose as they are burning more calories. This is normal. They are growing.

Both sets of pups are truly wonderful. I make sure I interact with them as much as I can. Nathan waits till they are 4 plus weeks old. I think he misses so much that way and I get to know them better but he enjoys the fun stage vs the changes that I find that are so fascinating that is more subtle. Although I do the majority of the work, I get to bond in every stage. 

Then we will have Yoshi. Oh boy and Yoshi is a magical loving dog. It is going to be chaos but fun!

Back Up Partially

It has been a very long day but we managed to take one of the Nami pups outdoors. You can see it in the videos and gallery now. I would have played catch-up but it is nicer to get it up on the same day.

Pups are getting fat. They are getting more active by the day. It all happens when it happens. The majority of their abilities happen after 4 weeks. Each day they perfect their skills and get better and better. They do get excited to see me.

In the next day or 2, we will do nau=ils on this crew.
