Emmy was visiting us and she had a ton of fun!
We kept waiting for the rain but all we got was heat. I guess it missed us.
The dogs helped me with weeding early this morning and then it got too hot.
Shoshi is still being a challenge to feed.
Teddy has taken over the recliner. I just love it!
Life is good for dogs and us humans - well it does our heart good!
A picture of Katie on my balcony asking to come back inside.
Ruth
---
More coming in a bit but after hunting through Nathan's email, finally found this one after Ruth asked.
Coco swam today. We are taking a dog in here and there. With the hand, we are trying to limit certain movement in grooming. She enjoyed especially when it cooled her off. No one else was interested other than the usual Ella, Misty and Sage.
Zoe is playing with Misty. Misty just insists. LOL
Our electrical out back is not working. Our handyman couldn't figure it out so we have to call an electrician. This is the year of repair. geez
We had Samantha, our niece come for a swim and a play with the dogs. It was great fun! She's off to McGill this September after completing her masters here in Toronto. She is looking forward to cheaper rent in Montreal and being closer to Ottawa - her home.
What weather and they say its going to feel like 40c this week.
Short blog tonight. Hand hurts. I am trying to minimize typing.
Dogs had fun despite the heat.
I still need to put up my screens and curtains but lots of hand work so it will wait. I get bit more laying on a raft than eating outside.
The two, Willow and Misty did really well in class 2. Here is the gallery.
We have class with Misty tonight and I have a lot of dogs to wash. So - will I add to this blog or not later? Looks like I am now
Hot weather all week. My wrists feel better but we shall see how better after this grooming marathon.
To keeping cool.
I am cancelling tomorrow's grooming as my hand was not ready and after today - yeouch. Hoping one day off will do the trick. I will be in touch to those wanting to know.
To tv tonight!
This outdoor couch is the most comfie thing to lay or sit on with the dogs. Our garden furniture is fine but nothing as comfie as this piece. They don't seem to make them anymore and not sure why not. I am just glad we have it and so are the dogs. LOL
I am doing a marathon bathing and grooming session tomorrow. I wa going to start tonight but decided the hand needed 1 more day rest.
Everyone is enjoying each other. We had a number of departures. We had a couple arrive. I love summer as I get to get reacquainted with our visitors. I can't imagine doing it any other way. It's a joy to have them visit.
Cinnamon is delighted as one of her pups arrived!
We did a short walk around the block. Both Ozzie and Fitz were very excited and as you can see walked well. Both did their duty as soon as we got outside. My knee was not up to it but it will either make it better or worse. LOL I am wearing a knee brace that helps.
It was way too hot for the dogs to stay outside. More so than yesterday it was overwhelming. Dogs came out then went right back in. They say cooler or at least less humidity tomorrow. Oh, I just looked - hot again.
I am busy trying to find a rubber mat that has holes in it to protect the inside of the sink. So far only have makeshift solutions.
Daughter came over with 2 of the kids and hubby. They swam. We have Adele and River till Monday. Their house hasn't sold so they are fretting. I think their new place is unpacked but they need lessons from Anne who gets it done on the same day. LOL I need lessons too. Some people are organizing geniuses. I am so trying.
Next project is fix landscape lights, clean out storage and get the piano gone. No one wants a piano for free so we are paying to have it hauled off despite it still working - a baby grand - old but oh well. All our kids learned on it. Then the tv room will expand and become a larger room. This way when we have pups the dogs have a wide space when it is tv time. They so enjoy tv time and so do we. It's the little things in life.
Hi everyone! Special woof to my Pawrents! I just had to take a dip today! My mom went in and I barked and barked asking to join her! And I loved it!
The sink is in. I had doubts it would go smoothly especially when he said he may have to cut the floor to fit the plumbing in. I said no. Find another solution or I will have to get someone else to install it. Sounds like I was being a biach but this is the most expensive sink I ever did have and I wasn't about to devalue it by cutting out the flooring which I needed for storage. That was the idea of the cabinet. There are different views in the gallery but its hard to get a complete photo.
Went to Costco with Sherry and held my breath wondering what I was coming back to considering Nathan took his nap, Dennis was watching the dogs and the handyman was doing what he was doing. I almost didn't want to look when I came home.
No cuts. It is installed. He found a solution. The faucet is wonderful though after much use, I will tell you. There is a significant difference with water pressure with a commercial faucet vs a laundry or kitchen unit - significant. It's not too hard but should be a dream to remove product out of the coat. We shall see.
I took Brewer in swimming today. He is a good swimmer but I think today it was so hot they enjoyed inside the most. Can you blame them?
I am so glad the sink is over - hooray!!
Thanks to Sherry for Costco and the company. I do believe they shut off the air in Costco. Geez
Both Fitz and and Ozzie went into the pool. No one else wanted to as its simply too hot. We washed the cement in cool water often to keep their feet cool and put mats out and cooled those down.
Looking at photos of these 2, when dogs that are not used to swimming go in at the first of the season they tend to splash a great deal as they are a bit worried. By round 2, Fitz was swimming strong saying - I can do it and Ozzie was try 3. Each time after there were no splashes and they were strong swimmers. Bravo!! Wonderful progress and they seemed to enjoy it once they relaxed.
Dogs today were LOVING the indoors. LOL The beauty of air. I am feeling bad for anyone that has just fans. Today, is indeed hot!
Tomorrow the sink gets installed. I am hoping it goes smoothly. It needs to.
I did not bruise - hooray from the fall. I did wrench my neck, shoulder and truly hurt my wrist and hand - the grooming one. Got to love it. My knee is better. Hoping I feel pain free tomorrow. If not pain pills. It could have been worse. Icing has been helping. Thank you. Laying on a pool mat hurt so I just sat. It was still desirable.
To tv time with Nathan and the dogs. Sounds liek we are old celebratiung tv time. Well....
Fitz and Coco are playing up a storm. It is nice seeing Fitz play like he was with her.
Both Willows were swimming today and then we realized it was getting late and I needed to groom Willow to go home. So, I rushed with her wet to go get her done and Dennis had wet the floor in front of the door so down I went. I messed up my wrist, hand, the other hand, knee and on and on. I am bloody sore. It was hard to groom and do it rushed. LOL Despite that, she came out looking gorgeous. Well, I think so.
I am icing myself and hoping tomorrow is a good day as I have grooming to do.
Come Friday the sink goes in. The faucet arrived and it was packed like fort knox. It looks and feels substantial. Looking forward to seeing how it works.
Tomorrow Ozzie, Miss Mia and Amy arrives. Ozzie is coming for a few days and Amy and Miss Mia for the day. Coco and Doozie departs. We miss them when they depart. It's silly, I know but we appreciate enjoying their moments.
Its hard to type believe it or not so am leaving this blog at this point. Off to the couch, icing and dog loving.
PS: Nathan was in the pool when I fell and he said you could hear me in the next city. He's so funny....sure...
You will see so many bad hair days in the gallery. I promise - I brushed them.
Dogs are going home and dogs are coming.
The faucet did not come. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
The dogs rather enjoyed the overcast day.
I was grooming dogs and my sign fell off the wall and all I could see was scrapes all the way down. So, this is going to sound crazy but I took an old face cloth, put it in the paint and rubbed it on over the streaks - a number of coats. I was miffed. The paint peeled. Maybe the paint is too thick. Take note for when we buy more paint.
I haven't even told Nathan as he was taking a nap and I could just hear him say - well it doesn't belong on your wall. Guess I need to find a new place for it.
Tanner went swimming before he departed. If you look at his photos in the gallery, he holds his tail like Kat does and uses it as a rudder. Not all do. Smartie pants!
Remy and Benny departed. Benji and Harlowe departs tonight. Barney arrived!
It's a crazy house but a fun house.
Oh Scruffy - that look is so adorable! We miss you already. I hope you managed to stay clean today.
Is it just me or it gets hotter as the day goes on?
I did get to swim today and I laid on my raft and thought, this is what I live for all year.
When Nathan goes into the pool or even comes downstairs with swim trunks, the dogs jump in the pool. I go in, they lay with their heads on their paws and just watch me. Sometimes Nathan would like to swim by himself but he can't unless he goes out the front door and around to the back. Every now and then just him and sometimes the both of us swimming would be nice.
I am hoping to get more dogs swimming tomorrow. It is easier the day they are departing. I say that as then I can wash them. We have Tanner, Remu, Benny, Benji and Harlow departing and barney arriving. Goldie is here for a month so you will see a lot of her. She's such a great dog.
Adele got spayed Friday - thank you, daughter and may be coming over next weekend. I am not grooming all weekend - exciting and I am hoping to have Helen and Suzie with Ali and Hugo over so Ali can get some closure and we can see her.
We also have Ozzie coming. Nathan forgot to put this in the calendar - argh so he forgets the time so he can see how he gets along with Fitz. Fitz is getting better by the day. He is no longer barking for attention.
Sink gets installed on Friday - here's hoping and the faucet arrives tomorrow - here's hoping. I still have a lot to put back and organize but it will feel good to have nice surroundings for grooming. When you are surrounded by grooming supplies clutter, detergent with no cabinet and chips on a wall etc - well you feel less than your best - at least I do. We have a dog house - chewed legs from puppies, covered couches in case a guest has a mistake etc I wouldn't have it any other way but sprucing up where you can is a good thing despite this costing more than I could afford. The sink - the bloody cabinets that were wrong, the faucet, the paint but its done. One room out of many.
Now that the japanese maple is fully in and hanging to the ground, the dogs like to run under it as it has cool soil and they can play a game of hide and seek.
My knee is getting better. It's taking so long and I compensate so I get leg cramps. It's a ridiculous thing what we do to ourselves. I also tried to find omeprazole for GERD and I asked the pharmacist today and they said they never heard of it. huh? My nurse girlfriend lives in the states and its over the counter there and I believe it is here but at least my local pharmacist hasn't a clue. My friend in the states gets hers in Costco. So, if you know, let me know.
I am about to head out, hang out on the couch with many dogs and enjoy the rest of the evening watching netflix on my ipad. I have been watching Instant Hotel and its been interesting. Could you do what they are doing?
This is Meadow swimming/
This is Ollie swimming. They are both VERY strong swimmers. I am impressed!
It was a long day for me as I brushed and combed all and did many baths. I almost washed someone that isn't going home till Wednesday. LOL I checked the calendar and shook my head at myself.
It's been a very hot today. I did take a grooming break to take photos of the new swimmers today. i like to do this just before they go home otherwise its two baths, which happened with Meadow today. That's okay.
Tanner arrived and is having a complete blast. He is loving and kissing momma canine.
I bet you Meadow is fast asleep watching how she played.
Now it is tv time early. My knee is still killing me and I need to ice and get it up with the dogs on top of me, of course.
No washing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sink is going in and I need a break after the holiday weekend. We shall see.
Everyone is having a truly outstanding time. Makes me happy when they are!
This is Murphy and Fitz hanging out.
No one went swimming today. We had a lot of humidity so the dogs really, really appreciated the indoor air. I am feeling bad for anyone without air. I hope humans and dogs are all in good shape.
Remy is visiting and he is Saffron and Murphy's great, great uncle. It is wonderful to have him here and he is still playful.
We also have Benny here. The older generation rules are here and the younger generation is playing up a storm. The older ones don't mind all the play either. How nice!
Years ago I did step aerobics and really screwed up my knee. Today is a bad day where I am hardly able to walk on it. It's hell getting older. Ice packs, tylenol 1s and a leg brace that doesn't quite fit. Here's to the next day when I hope it magically goes away. I say this as some of us are getting older - dogs and humans and arthritis sucks. But there are worse things.
Here's to a wonderful long weekend for all. Lots of brushing this weekend and it seems it is just me. But better than dealing with knots later on, I say.
Ollie and his canine mom have been playing quite a lot. It's nice to watch!
Oh Saffron you are such a cutie. Your daughter is going to be bigger than you by far.
I washed a bunch of dogs today. I combed out Ollie who wasn't impressed. LOL Planned to take him in the pool but it rained. Oh well we will see what tomorrow brings.
The faucet is on its way. They say fed ex and it will get here by 5pm Tuesday but handyman can't come till Friday. I had no faith and this better work out. Photos when it is all done and you will all sigh relief - oh my gad she's not going to be talking about THAT anymore!
The dogs are truly enjoying this fine holiday weekend. We hope their humans are enjoying it as well.
We are already watching tv in the family room vs. the tv room. It's larger. Misty is trying to jump on the couch and every now and then she gets up on it and Spirit flies and leaps off of it at her. Harlow just looks at them like they are nuts. Perhaps they are.
All the dogs are laying on both of the couches. Chillin at the end of the day is the best!
Ollie Chillin'As this is the holiday weekend it is a full house but a fun one. Not many photos. Here is the gallery.
It was too hot today. The dogs complained and didn't want to swim. I wanted to. Nathan wanted to. Funny dogs.
The sink arrived today but the faucet has not even shipped from Maryland. They say it ships out tomorrow. Believe it when I get a tracking. Looking more like the end of next week, if I am lucky.
Dogs and I are waiting for Nathan to get out of the pool so we can chill and watch tv. They say a thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon. We shall see. I have many dogs to do this weekend. So, I will jump in the pool when I can and if it rains, if I don't have time, I won't be too upset. Greedy thing wanting pool time.
We have a truly outstanding bunch here this weekend. It's going to be busy but fun, fun, fun!
Misty is turning into an outstanding dog, as I knew she would. Glad she stuck around. What a water dog!
What do they do after playing all day? This is the usual stance till they get their 2nd wind.
Dennis and Nathan took the photso so if your pup is not in this gallery, blame them. LOL
The faucet saga continues. I spent a ton of time trying to find one. I found shut offs are no longer available. You have to do them yourself. It has something to do with a makeshift bidet. More than you want to know. At least that is the story we were told.
The original faucet I was told was the best choice for a groomer but Amazon can acquire them from the manufacturer at the moment. So I cancelled that order. they had no clue when they would get them in. I called Global Industrial and the faucet suggested by one of you is not in stock and has a high pressure on it that is used to clean pans in restaurants. So, essentially a pressure washer in a faucet. After calling 20 plus plumbing suppliers, it all went back to no one had anything in stock that would work except a threaded faucet with a hose and sprayer attached. It is what I had. I never had enough pressure but I can't have too much pressure. Both Powell and Hudsons and Noble and many other places suggested I contact T&S directly. That was fun but they did tell me a place that had it in stock. So, I did call them. They only do orders online - not on the phone - yikes. So, we will see if it arrives. I have no faith any longer. I will feel better when I get tracking - they say shipping won't happen till Friday. With the holiday, it won't arrive till who knows when. I will be glad when this chapter is over. If I end up hating the faucet, remind me I get what I deserve.
Dogs truly enjoyed when we had shade today. Me, I kept waiting for the sun. Tomorrow I start doing serious grooming. I believe I am busy all weekend. I did get the liner for the cabinets. It's a two minute job now that I have something to size it to. 4 shelves out of 6 are done. I also have a step stool so I am not swaying. LOL
Dogs are laying all over Nathan outside while I am typing inside. I think it is summer and the dogs think so too! Time to watch tv and maybe have a gin and tonic! I best brush Tenshi again as she looks like I never washed her.
It was a tad cool this morning with cloudiness so we didn't swim but when the sun came out, Charlie decided to jump in.
I groomed and then lined my cabinets with liners. I have to do 2 more cabinets.
Pixie and Leo's mom came over and we were so excited to see them but didn't take photos - darn. She brough cilantro/coriander. Seeing all 3 of them was the best present ever.
The sink ships tomorrow and they say it will arrive in 2 days. The faucet won't be here for 3 weeks so we are going to a plumbing store to find a solution and cancelling the fancy faucet. yikes - always something. Who knows when the handyman will be available to put the sink in. So maybe I will have time to find a solution - maybe not.
Tomorrow will be hot so we are hoping to get some swimming in. It's the time to wash my own dogs too so lots of grooming to fit in this week.
The dogs truly enjoy the lounging business outside. They had steak added to their dinner tonight. They ate rather well.
I hardly got any sleep last night. I didn't eat anything spicy and didn't overeat. If anything undereating and I had a terrible bout of Gerd - solution Tums. That was okay then the ^%$# squirrels ran across the window and the dogs started barking at 530am in unison. Then about 6am they went the other way. About 630am, I gave up. I may buy blackout curtains. Someone told me they are cheap at Costco.
I do believe we have a truly fun bunch here. With the long weekend coming up, it will be busy but a ton of fun.
Patches and Radar are here. I caught Radar with his head on Stone's back. Where was my camera but it made me smile.
We have been feeding outside just for a change. The air is so nice and when it is not raining, why not?
Jeannie has terminal bed head and as soon as I fix it, she ruins it. She's so funny. She pushes herself through the gate to make sure she gets to stay with me in the office. She is very pushy about it. LOL
I need to cut liners for my cabinets so I can put my product back. I hate our step stool. I have to find a sturdy one that doesn't take up too much space. The one we have sways. Yes - really it sways. I think it needs to go in the trash and I can't see any way of tightening it up. I think its just breaking. You see I must stand on it to cut the liners.
I had a bunch to groom today and tomorrow. It rained while I was grooming, I was told.
Charlie departs tomorrow and Tenshi, Radar and patches arrive for overnight. Harlow came running in to claim her fave spots. LOL She does that the first day like a game. the others don't mind.
Misty is in class tonight. We forgot about it and I was in the pool when Ruth and Willow showed up so off Nathan went with his wallet and phone left at the front door. Got to love it and I bet he doesn't even realize it. Next week I will go. I didn't want to race around with my head cut off drying and getting dressed as they were already going to be late otherwise. I will have to hear the stories when he arrives home.
That's it for tonight. I look forward to watching tv and relaxing with the dogs.
I planted some bean seeds - I know late but gave up finding. They will either grow or not. Time will tell.
Oh and I have been starting to put herbs in my regular pots vs just the trug. It is working out well.
