Early Blogs and Fun Times

Well rain was here in the morning and its coming again. Here they are saying - LET me in. I hear it is going to rain and well some of us do not like the rain.

I am in the midstream stage of grooming all dogs. Some will appear to be groomed - some won't as when I clicked I hadn't got to them.

We took Inula into the vet today for a pregnancy xray. Yeah, you heard that. Although we never saw any connection and she was kept separate, we figured best as nightmares can happen. You see Inula has been nesting, carrying toys. She has leaking milk and she has this tummy which led us to believe we may be losing our minds. Best to know. Even though my mind says impossible, her body and nesting was saying... we best check. I was SOOOOOO stressed last night as Dennis kept thinking she was and feeding the thoughts. Well, she is not pregnant but she is having a full blown false pregnancy. The poor vet took xrays from all sorts of angles and well its not cheap. I almost told Dennis she was having 16 pups just to get back at him but I didn't. Not in my makeup. What brought on the false pregnancy? Perhaps Cinnamon and Ella. I will tell you that she has enough milk for 16 puppies. hahahahaha 

So that was my day - and last night. Tonight we have class with the monster - ooops the sweeties Sage. She was a compliant thing for her bath as long as I fed her treats. Wait till she finds out she is not having supper. 

The dogs found the rabbit that is seriously as large as them and they chased that rabbit all over the place and getting them not to was hard. Guess who was leading the pack? Farley, Clarity, Brewer and Sadie. They were all working with each other to corner it. I never saw a working team so tight. It was as if they said you go there, I will go there etc. I do believe they thought this was grand fun. I doubt the rabbit did. Maybe it will leave my tomatoes alone. Fat chance....

I want to go in the pool but I want to take a nap, Poor Nathan slept with Inula in the other room just in case so he could watch her.  I said now you know how I feel when I do this with the mothers. 

I need a break from possibilities. 

Routines

Sadie loves to walk right on the edge of the pool. She circles it, leans over but refuses to go in. One has to laugh. I will get close but close enough.

The dogs love the cushions and lazing in comfort. I took out some of those nasty weeds that sets seeds that get caught in their coat. I want to avoid that. I only got an hour in and 1 large lawn bag filled packed but the weeds will grow and tomorrow is another day. The dogs seem to enjoy watching me getting all sweaty. Maybe they don't get these human preoccupation with things.

Elvis arrived and that brat Sage is barking at anything that moves to engage anyone who will engage with her. It's a typical evening - of course.

Productive or Funny

Here is Sage telling her mother off. Yep - she is one of THOSE!

I managed to get everyone combed out early today though you can't tell. I even took out weeds that were as high as a birdbath around my daylillies at the pool. You can't tell, I am told. LOL I did ask. What did you do? You see those 2 bags full? I pulled out all those weeds there. Really?I may shoot someone.

Tomorrow, I may pull another bunch as those nasty seeds is coming out - the nice ones that get caught in their coat. Dennis said to me you can't expect me to weed too - do you? Well I do pups, weed, water, groom so why not. LOL I found myself dreaming of an easy care yard with flagstone everywhere and plants just in pots. One can dream.

While I was doing this dreaming and yanking out weeds, Nathan was inside with the pups and I had the dogs staring in wonder at what I was doing. They laughed, I swear when they saw me drag 2 pots that I could hardly move from one deck to the other. 

I am still not finished. I need to get rid of old pots, broken statues and all that fun stuff. I gave that job to Dennis but we shall see. 

The dogs are really enjoying the comfort of chair pads to lay on and a gazebo to lay under that actually gives nice shade. i want another one for the bottom deck but it has to be on sale and not as large as the top as the bottom deck is smaller... for shame. About that dreaming I was thinking cement patio - 2 level, tiles, sun room over it. It is strange where your mind wanders when weeding. Oh yeak a lottery win would have to happen too. Fat chance but nice to dream at times.

Dogs are truly enjoying each other, Sage is truly a brat. Leti is done breeding and I have no doubt she is pregnant.

The end of this month we will have some craziness. Our grand daughter is going into childrens for the 1st of 3 surgeries. No swimming. No activity till completely healed - something about fertility possibilities for 6 to 8 weeks. There goes the summer. We are hoping it works. After she completely heals they will do stage 2 in October. they are still arguing about the 3rd surgery timing and where. The whole thing is bizarre but we are crossing our fingers. maybe I will keep the pool open for the 1st 2 weeks of September so Dani can swim. Hmmm I think that's a good idea. :-)

Hanging Out

This is Mr. Scruffy before his daily groom. I am ending up grooming ever so late in the day as I am washing dogs etc for pickups and then I do comb-outs for the rest after dinner. That's okay. I think they look great scruffy. heh

Dogs are truly enjoying this warm but not hot day. I have the upper deck set up in a way that you can put your feet up, have many dogs laying with you and be mega comfie. They like it a great deal. Me too!

I can have my ipad out there and watch it with the dogs. Ah just some spring comfort when you grab 10 minutes or so. 

I looked at weeds today and said I must but then I said I can't. By the time I get time to do them they will be so big they will be easy to pull. LOL

Had hamburgers today. Removed lettuce, tomato and shallots for toppings for the toppings. having a garden works.

Very Late

Sorry - too much grooming and a full day of it tomorrow too. This playing catch up and getting in knotted dogs at this time is not the best as I am truly juggling. Here is is 943pm and I am blogging.

Hot Day

Here is today's gallery.

The dogs are truly enjoying outdoors but no one is swimming. Perhaps that is a good thing as I am unable to groom from morning till bedtime. :-) Things will get easier when they are 2 weeks old. Monday they are a week old. I did get a quick dip in yesterday and today but Nathan opted for a nap instead. Can't blame him. I think we are finally coming out the other side of feeling human.

Daisy, Coachie and Sassy go home today. Tomorrow Hugo, Milo, Ziggy and Amy head home. Shlomo comes to visit. 

I had a very full day grooming. It was actually a bit insane. I need the pups older so I do not feel like I am watching my ipad and doing a balancing act. 

I have some bleepin animals eating my tomatoes. When I get some energy I have some no chew netting I am going to put around them. 

My weeds are growing. The dogs are wonderful. Everyone looks at me cross eyed when I say did you take photos yet? So, when they say no, I do. LOL

I am getting the plants watered and the dogs love supervising me.

The messier Saffron is, the more elegant, I think she is but I am biased!

Still Playing Recovery

Here is today's gallery.

Changing out blankrts for thr moms always so doing a lot of laundry. Liek to think i am completely recovered but not.

I have to brush here and there as I am it during the day for 2 sets of pups. It's a lot of work at this point but it gets easier 3 weeks into it and then again a lot of work at 4 weeks when they are running around and eating. But that's for their blogs.

It is cool here. Dogs seem to be enjoying that. I am too tired to swim even if it was hot.

Tonight Sage has her first class. She's a bucking bronco on a lead. It's her first time having it on. 

I need some updates of the pups that went home so I can update the blog. Send it to darlah@potechin.com. I will be alive enough in a day or two to add that to my to do list as I think its important.

Jon is supposed to come home in time for me to go to a 6pm class. I may sleep all the way there or just send Nathan. He's not able to get his nap in. So, tonight should be interesting. Dennis is not up yet and we did have a doorbell rung but its due to a mouse he ordered so I can blame him. LOL

Dogs are highly curious when the moms come through to do their duty outdoors. The pups think ooooo milk and that includes some of the older pups. 

Think other than reassuring you they are having a blast, that is it for today. This is a real cohesive group. They all enjoy each other!

Tired But Fun

Sorry this blog is short. We are mega tired. I am shocked I am still awake and not a walking zombie.

Here is the gallery such as it is.

The dogs didn't get brushed - sorry but well that's wrong. I did brush Panda and Logan early as I thought they were departing early then the pups came. Their mom and dad are coming home after being away for their son's wedding. Quite nice. 

I feel do inadequate when I don't get things done. But it is what it is.

Tomorrow I will hopefully be rested. Maybe we will get warmer weather. Maybe I will kill the mouse digging out a pot I have or is it a rabbit - just teasing but a pile of dirt out of my pot 2 days in a row when I am busy tests ones patience.

At least it wasn't hot and I felt like I was missing the ppol. Weather - you cooperated.

Going to enjoy not having a light on at bed so I can check to see if a puppy is coming. I will also not worry about nodding off and well cuddling is the best when you are not worried about such things.

No Gallery Day

This is Stone and Sage cuddled up together. There is a whole series but no time or energy to create a gallery. He rather likes her. They all do but she is a brat. 

Weare waiting for Teddy to be picked up. Nathan is already taking a nap. I will be laying on the couch after Teddy departs. 

It may be a very long day. So, I hope you understand.

I had a great day with Sherry. We went to Unionville, ate at Jakes and then wandered down Main street as there was a festival going on. Who knew. We then came back for a quick swim. 

They say rain tomorrow.

Nothing so far is going on with the girls. Dogs are really enjoying cooler mornings. Me, I am yawning. 

Birthday, Family and Dawgs

This is Sadie holding court. She's a riot. Nathan keeps saying remind me why we didn't keep her? I said Patt loves her so. He said yes that is what makes it right - the right fit!

We are late doing blogs as we had some family over and swimming. I had to do lots of grooming after. argh Now I am blogging it.

Now Nathan is finishing up his birthday in a sea of dogs. It can't get better than that!

Some Went Swimming With Me

Ziggy loves the swim but Daisy - you have to tell her - we are done. LOL She can't get enough. Even Sage went in with me and of course Raven and Willow are water dogs. Maybe tomorrow with Nathan's help I will get more in but today it was just me and the brush after. LOL

Short blog as I am going to watch tv. Got to grab every moment. It's nathan's birthday tomorrow and well if we are having pups we won't get tv time so best do it now. 

Sage also had a bath and she didn't complain much. LOL I added her photos to the gallery.

Late Blog Perhaps?

Our car needs the transmission fixed. There are NO cars available from Enterprise. Nathan's ipad died so he is sitting at apple for 2.5 hours to be seen without an appointment. He now has a replacement and is crabbing about transferring everything. Ooops I think its almost done.

I have finished 3 more dogs wash and groom. I want to get in the pool. Fat chance but I will try. We are feeding the dogs in a few minutes.

Sage is a handful. Let me explain. She runs up and down the full flight of stairs. She attempts to jump on the couch repeatedly and almost makes it. She is persistent. She jumps off the couch despite being told no. She gets involved outside and fits under the deck through the lattice openings. Poor thing cried for her sister off and on for 2 days. It was killing my heart. If a dog says no and growls no she persists. Who me - you can't be serious. She knocks the water dishes over and puts her feet in them. She was howling when you left the room so we left her in the other room till she stopped. It took her 4 times till she stopped whining for attention. It sounds like she is a brat and she is. She steals toys. She has been known to grab an antler out of Stone's mouth when she already has one. She is endearing and she will finally get it but we knew about 4 weeks that she had this personality and by 8 weeks it was full blown. I think this is Saffron's first step over the line baby. She really is lovely but she really is a brat.

June 1st its Mr. Nathan's birthday and June 2nd is Sherry's birthday! 

I do not have the whelping areas set up. It's been too crazy busy but plan to have a gin and tonic tonight and start at it. The gin and tonic is just because. Nathan is going to watch tv and snuggle with the dogs. Hmm why can't we trade places? I sat down on the outdoor couch today and got attacked by the dogs. It was a riot.

Oh and Ziggy wants to swim. No one else does... not even Ella today. hmmmm 

If you put a layer of water on the blue mat Oreo wriggles all over it. It's so funny! You will see it in the  gallery. 

I guess I best shut my fingers down. I need to get two whelping areas ready.

Almost Forgot Day

We have been so busy so I am doing a fast gallery. We are getting pens ready. Got a potting table for the trug. If you bought a trug from Lee Valley last year they are selling the potting table attachment for ten dollars. 

Sage is a challenge as we knew she would be. She's bold and gets herself into trouble. She makes Stormy look sedate. 

I may have a short blog tomorrow as I have 7 dogs to groom. It means no swimming unless I am super human. We shall see.

Dogs are having fun. I am ever so tired. There's a lot to do to get ready for pups. You have to sterilize everything. Yeah for the steam cleaner.As Dennis says it is a 1am night. I will go to bed sooner or I will be dangerous grooming. 

Super Hot Day

Today was a super hot day. The dogs did not like it and well if I wasn't in the pool, it was not fun to be outside. The dogs love the air conditioning. heh We have it comfortable inside but not cold. It's perfect and I think the dogs concur.

Here is the gallery. I didn't take too many photos. I am hoping we can hang outside after it cools down a bit. But they say 40c in most of Ontario - oh boy... 

The dogs say tv room please. Who the hey wants to hang out, have their tongue dragging and be panting to cool down - not us!!

Heated Day Out

Magic was over for a bath, trim etc. It was rather hot today. Leti is in heat. Stone, Kat etc going crazy - joy.

No one wants to go swimming but Ella and Roxie did and so did Raven - and everyone else including Kat - said nah. I think we need to start taking one at a time in.

I did plants all my beans. We put up two birdbaths - the ones we already had. Another waterpot is done and our furniture is out. 

Our van needs to go into the shop but Nathan insists we go to the vets in it stuck in gear. I guess its side streets and then he will drop off teh van and rent a car, I suppose. Always something.

I am making progress but I doubt I will get everything done before pups arrive. But I am making a dent.

Sage has been miserable. I think she was really attached to Mabel but each day she is getting better. I think the extra week is deadly for the pups. It's simply easier when they go right after each other. The extra week they bond so. Sage is busy forging relationships with the older dogs and Saffron is taking care of her. 

Stay tuned tomorrow for xrays. I keep thinking Cinnamon is huge and she is but maybe its just because I am comparing her to Ella. 

Everyone truly is having a blast!

Only One Blog Tonight

Tomorrow Zoe and Noahn departs. They have been with us for awhile as the humans are doing remodeling. As we all know remodeling is best when it is finished. the process is never on time and well not fun.

Chester and Koko also is departing tomorrow. Magic and Muntuno are coming for baths and next weekend no grooming as it is the weekend before pups. 

Yikes Leti is in heat. 

Marcie came to visit and Safi and Sage was out of their mind happy. 

We also went to Woofstock today and on our way home the car wouldn't shift so looks like the car goes in on Monday to get fixed and we get to rent a vehicle. Fun! Why always on a weekend?

Oh well with the car not working, I get to transplant plants after grooming is done. Someone is stealing my tomatoes so I am looking for solutions. I am so unhappy as each time I get a ripe one it is gone. Need to buy some netting. 

Sage is so bold. We have the Stormy but well Sage makes Stormy look sedate. Oh boy... She is full of beans, precocious and well did you know she drank out of my glass? 

Everyone is having a blast. Dennis and Jon entertained the dogs while we were at Woofstock. 

Steven and May's trio are fitting in so well and are having a blast.

Let's hope tomorrow is a pool day. :-)

Very Hot Day

I transplanted a bunch of orchids and Koko sat up on the table to watch.

No one swam not even Ella, Kat or Roxie. I think we are not used the the heat and I am thankful we had air today.

Tomorrow we are at Woofstock. We then come back and I get to groom and Nathan gets to swim? We shall see. Maybe I will swim and stay wet while I do dogs. hahahahaha
