Jeannie Day

Here are just a few photos of Jeannie embracing life as all Havanese do but especially the pups!

Thanks to Nathan for taking these photos.

No Photo Day

This is a no photo day. Jeannie has tried her barking on for size. You are eating onion rings, I want some. I corrected her and she recovered fast this time. She knows when I say no, I mean no. Besides onions are bad for dogs.

Jeannie has figured out how to get up on the couch and how to get down. Oh my....  We turn around and she is up and haven't quite figured out how she managed it but I vow to catch her. She also climbs the back of the couch like a cat to lay on the top. I suspect that is how she gets up on the couch too.

There is no way she can jump up yet.

Learning to Play

Jeannie has started to learn that pups are not to be mauled. They squeak and say hey enough and she learns and they learn under our supervision.

Without this process they don't 'get' their strength or understand boundaries. It is such an important process.

Last night we were watching X-Factor results and eating popcorn in the TV room. Jeannie started barking insisting I feed her. I corrected her and she was unhappy but if she had continued I would have put her outside of the TV room till she got that you don't demand food especially with barking.

They are pups and they learn. They are smart and if you are consistent and don't give in you end up with the dog you want.

Fizzled: Yeah!

The human says its bath time but she just fizzled. Life is grand when those humans have spent stamina!

I guess it will be my turn on Sunday or Monday... Maybe she's getting so old she will forget?

Think I have a chance?

Jeannie's 3rd Shot

Jeannie went to the vets for her 3rd shot and weighs 4lbs 11 ounces. She did grow a pound in a month.

This is her sitting at the vets smiling her fool head off at this big mixed breed of a dog.

She got out of the car on a lead. She put on the brakes and said I am not going in THERE. The waiting room was full of very big dogs and a bull dog that was rather noisy. If she could talk I bet she said oh my gad - or worse words than that.

She sat up against Spice for safety of sorts.

Then she sauntered up to this big dog right up to his back end and smelled and went oh not bad. She relaxed. She looked around and wanted to play.

She checked out the resident Jack Russell that belongs to the vet. She checked out a huge and I mean huge labradoodle and many other mixed breeds and she relaxed. The key is she looked around, had to get the lay of the land and then relaxed. That's a good thing. She played recovery fast and used her brain to assess the safety of the situation.

She got her shot and just like last time not a peep. Came home, ate and now she is playing.

I call that a success!

Class 2

Check out a few of the photos taken in class.

Jeannie made noise halfway to class. She was hungry and not a happy camper but she finally settled in.

She still didn't play with Timmy or Cha Cha but she did much better in class and boy does she heel nicely. She actually prances. She is a look at me type of dog.

As usual Cha Cha and Timmy did fabulous.

Jeannie did not like playing tug. Funny as she loves it with other dogs. We shall see if its due to the size of the tug toy. She is  the smallest in class.

We have a number of things to practice but we always take the day after class off and tomorrow she has the vet so we shall see if Nathan gets in training before the vets.

With her next shot she will be able to start doing the scavenger list. She's at a disadvantage in this regard as everyone else can already and has done classes but we will play catch-up.

Tonight is the Night

I was just told that I have class tonight. Silly humans.

No bath for me.

That human washed Spice, Wasabi and Risa today so I get a break. Besides, I was washed LAST week.

Getting excited about class though that human Mom is ever so tired. She was thinking of not going and won't if her blogs don't get done so they will be short...

Learning

I now run from the backyard to the deck when Daddy or Mommy calls me. I have a great recall in my backyard. We will have to test it in class.

I still am not crazy over heeling but that stupid lead they put on me, well I am dealing. I also touch nose with Daddy's hand. What a silly game that is. Even the rest of the adults got that one fast. :-)

When we had visitors they were surprised at how well I knew my name and how I come to it. So even with distractions I am no fool. I come for the treat.

Let's see how class goes this week.

Jeannie Style Fun

Jeannie gets out there and plays with the big guys as if she thinks she is a big one herself. It's a riot to watch.

When training your little one look for opportunities. We had people coming over so Nathan put Jeannie on a lead and did some lead training while he waited.

It's important to take those opportunities and incorporate them into your day.
