Let the Games Begin

As Jeannie is out of her cycle come the 7th and not bred, she is beside herself quite literally. She tried to tell Adele she is the boss since Adele arrived home. She keeps trying to mount her and put her head over her and usually Adele just ignores it but now she says Jeannie, I don't think so. No fights. Just words to knock it off. Jeannie persisted till I finally had to say ENOUGH Jeannie as one can only comb out a coat so much and dear old Jeannie was doing a number on Adele's coat. Not that the pups wo'nt but after cutting it back after she stopped showing I would like it to come back so I may be tying it up when she has pups. Inula did a real number on Adele's coat as they play TT style. We shall see how it all unfolds. If not, I will shave it down and start anew. Sometimes after pups it is better vs just cutting off length as I did with Jeannie. A closer cut allows the coat to come back without pups mauling it.

I believe they know when the other is bred and is pregnant. When a gal is pregnant they have status. They literally strut through the others as if to say I am special. They do that after having pups too. Its interesting to watch. Spice is such an easy go gal that to her it doesn't matter. She will find fun in helping out the others.

Roxie ignores them all quite literally as if to shake her head at such silliness. The dynamics have changed since Adele has returned but the gals are still segragated into my office. In 4 days Jeannie gets to be in with the rest. Roxie and Spice won't be able to hang out with the rest till the 17th/18th. Adele not till the 10th.

Adele is enjoying her status and I imagine Roxie and her will become very close like our moms do when they share having litters at the same time.

Did anyone see the video I posted on yesterday's entry? I thought it was a fun one.

Another interesting aspect of dog dynamics. Adele is showing Jeannie she can have babies too and is very special. Wonderful insight.

Interesting to hear about the shift in the dynamics of the gals.

I always feel sorry for the boys, especially when they are not part of the
breeding plan this time.

I feel really bad for the boys actually and for us as we hardly get any sleep due to whining, barking and all sorts of craziness that boys do . It's highly stress filled. But we can't always get what we want. The boys mark so much outdoors that their undersides needs to be washed DAILY. My doors are getting scraped up. Going to wait till heats are done including Leti and then I will sand and stain and figure out how to protect the doors. :-) Have to do this outdoors due to pregnant gals. Will be glad when its over but we still have Leti and Inula to come in.

Did anyone see yesterday's video with Adele's reaction to Tracy bringing Newton?

August 3, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

I saw the video. Such excitement. Murphy was listening and was flying around trying to figure out where it was coming from.

Think both Newton and Adele couldn't wait to see each other. She kept saying Tracy, can you help?

August 3, 2015 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Sherry, Clarity does the same thing! I tell her to be patient, pups are coming and so is our number.

Darlah it is too bad that the boys Kat & Truffie when they are not involved in the breeding program can't go and visit someone else for a two weeks or so.
I so wish I had a fenced back yard where Kat could come and play and not think about the girls.

Kathy: Yes, that would be easier on them. :-)
