This is a Test

Who is chasing whom? Can you tell?

Here is a gallery that Dennis took when he had the pups out with some of the adults. For us discerning havanese types that have been doing this for a long time, one has a female face and one has a male face. It is obvious that each have their respective gender face. At times some breeders will go that boy has a female looking face. Now you ponder on that and try to figure out what they meant. It took me a bit of time.

Here are a few videos. Charlie will be gone in 2 days and then we will be down to the duo till Alvin arrives.

I do think there is are general differences in the face, build and stance between genders ... Although not 100% fool proof (like you said, that "that boy has a female looking face"). Females tend to have a smaller face with more "delicate" features. Same as their body structure. Clarity definitely has a delicate, feminine face. Although I have to say I find this hard to pick out when they are young pups.
Can I tell the difference looking at these pics ... Not!

I went back to the "I am" blog to see if I could see a difference but I can't. These two look like twins

Interesting you should mention the female and male faces. One thing I have thought since first introduced to the Havanese breed is that the males are equally beautiful to the female. There are some female Havs that are very girly and others not quite so, but I do find w/ most male Havs that I would have a hard time telling their gender.

Our last two dogs were Bichons and I could always tell the male Bichons - even from a distance. They have bigger noses and I personally preferred the pretty female Bichon face.

Interesting!

These two pups both have similar features. I would not be able to tell their gender by looking at their faces. can you always tell as pups which have more gender specific faces ?

Can't tell, I try but I am no good at it at all.

I think Charlie is chasing River .

Yes, Charlie is chasing River. She has a longer muzzle as most girls do. She also has longer ears. Head shape is different. It's hard to tell when they are young but at 8 to 10 weeks it all comes together. Charlie is a very cute boy. Wait till you see today's photo as he just had a bath. He departs tomorrow morning.
