Oh Mommy Fun

I have to say this one is so full of it whatever it is. She just pulled at mommy's hair till it was a disaster and she kept at it. She couldn't help herself. What a cutie! She sure likes to have fun.

Here's today's outside gallery. You will see a whole series of what she did to mom.

I didn't last as long as yesterday as I am not really up to par but we had a quieter outdoor visit other than this and one of Adele's trying to smoosh a Roxie pup. You will see on the video how Nathan handled it. The video when done will be on the Roxie blog.

First Outdoors Experience

Pups had their 1st two outdoor experiences today. Nathan and I took them out this afternoon and Dennis took them out and they watched the sun go down. No photos or video when Dennis had them out but here is the gallery from when we had them out

I lied, the ones with Jesse was when Dennis was out with them. Jesse was pacing around the xpen back and forth like Collies do. The pups were not sure about it and Dennis thought of an idea of having them touch noses with Jesse and I was able to click a few of them that he did it with. They were looking for him after that excited about this big being outside the xpen.

I am not well but I am taking things and well life goes on. I managed to still do the outdoors with the pups and we will do it again tomorrow but Friday is apt to be rainy so maybe upstairs?

I had a tough day as I had so much on my plate and I am still not done. Here I am working on the blogs. The outdoor video will be found on the Roxie blog but its still uploading.

Pups bowels are - well not as bad as usual when we have a diet change but messy. So we are changing pads a great deal and cleaning bums - yeah that too. I am a glutton for punishment. This is normal. They are actually better than usual.

After the blogs I am crawling into bed and let the guys do the rest of what I normally have to do before bed. I am back to feeling sweaty, congested etc so I guess meds are wearing off and I am tired. :-)

Here's today's videos. Enough sharing my ^&%$ - sorry.

It's First Eats, First Kitchen Day

I just love this photo as this gal just laid herself down and ate away. You go girl!!

The puppies had their first time out in the kitchen. They had first taste of food. Food consisted of mousse which I called meat in the video and kibble (Fromms) softened, ground up, Esbilac and honey added. They will now have food in their pen at night. I am hoping Adele doesn't eat it all. Roxie's won't till I see how their bowels do as they are a tad young. We usually wait till over 4 weeks before introducing food. They will get theirs in the pen starting Friday if their bowels are okay.

You will see in the video  how they did getting exposed to Roxie's pups. The video is now uploaded. It's a long video as its the Adele pups first and then the Roxie pups joined in.

I am sweating up a storm - not up to this but we have to get this done if you are going to get your pups home on time. :-)

Be sure to check out the gallery of their visit on Roxie's page.

Crazy Times

Dennis had the crew out of the pen last night and didn't tell me till he was almost done. So, I only got a few photos. But I hear they had a great time. We will do it again today and I may shoot him if he tells me too late.

Pups are now 33 days old tonight. That means in a couple of days they will be 5 weeks old. Oh my.

Nathan can't seem to keep his hands off of this one. She's a riot to play with. Wait till you see. The almost all black one is just like her. Got to laugh.

I am still very busy and not up to par (feeling congested, tired etc) but I am trying. So, we are running with barebones updates. I am going to start doing longer videos and less quantity.

Tag Team

They are truly in play mode these days and they are now walking on linoleum rather well so less blankets will now be in the xpen. We are going to start feeding them this week some food. I was going to try today but I need to be able to do it when not so exhausted. You see bowels change and they get bunged up butts till their system adjusts. This means I am cleaning bums a LOT for a few days. It is just a reality and then they adjust and cleaning up the pen increases 10 fold as they go a lot more with food. As they get older their output decreases. So, the point is - not today. Maybe in a couple of days. They do not need to eat now. They are still gaining with mom. But we will try before the weeks done.

Many times Adele is feeding her pups standing up now.

4 Weeks 3 Days Old Tonight

Differences are important when you have 2 that look similar. With the two tan pups, 1 female, 1 male, it seems obvious. You just look underneath but really it is important to see them from a distance and know without doing this. The girl is a bit darker. His hair is wavy. Hers is straighter. So when they make it out to the yard, I will be able to tell from a distance. There are always differences. Oh and the girl has MANY teeth. :-)

She is more laid back. He's more, a get in the middle of it guy. He's not over the top. He's just likes to play longer but they are 4 weeks and things often change. I tell people when they see them at 6 weeks that you will blink and then watch them at 8 and oh boy they can and do change. The most even balanced friendly ones are the blacks. Now who is over the top? The darker apricot sable boy. He is an in your face kind of a boy.

So take all of this with a grain of salt as in all these years we have learned that it all changes as they perfect their skills.

They all play. They are all getting time getting carried around. We will see who gets teeth next. Time to get some baby soothers we can freeze. Till then frozen rags tied into knots will have to do.

Just Over 4 Weeks Old

It seems like there is a HUGE difference in their skills between 3 and 4 weeks and there is. They really do change a great deal in this window. They go from barely walking to jumping up, almost running and rough housing. At 3 weeks they were gently playing and sleeping more.

If you haven't noticed the sable boy is a real in your face with Momma. She turns her back on him to stop and sometimes she appears to love it. Lately Adele is spending a lot of time trying to takeover Roxie's pups. Maybe she sees hers as growing up or she just wants to take care of all. We have some truly outstanding personalities. All different but they will change again between now and 6 weeks and then again at 8 weeks. At 8 weeks you truly get a feel for them.

Newton's Momma made blankets for each puppy to go home with. She will be coming to see the pups with Paula at the approximately 7.5 week time frame. It will be fun showing off both litters.

In a few days we are going to start trying them on food and water.

4 Weeks 1 Day Old Tonight

Yes, they are starting to come out of the xpen now while I clean and tomorrow we start twice a day exposures. Once will be while I am cleaning and the next when we can play with them. We will be doing the Roxie pups too with an eventual outcome of merging the 2 litters.

Here is today's gallery.

The pups have made a dramatic change from last week to this. It's a huge jump from week 3 to week 4. Even the amount of time they stay up is different so they have a lot more time to perfect their skills. It's an exciting time.

4 Weeks Old Tonight

Happy 4 weeks old, babies. How did this time go by so fast. Today they were taken out of the xpen and placed outside to make it easier for me to clean the floors, change blankets and all that fun stuff. They were not so sure of it but we will keep doing it as they have a visit in a couple of weeks. We haven't set a date but we will soon. Here's a gallery from today.

Pups are now starting to get aware that there are pups on the other side and guess what Roxie's pups are noticing too.

Here's the videos. Not putting up all as I am out of time. I will play catchup tomorrow.

Day 27 Tonight

Wonder how they will react to their neighbors and what they will do when they do notice them. For now they haven't noticed them at all. I do have a crate covering a bit of the fence line, so to speak but we shall see how it goes.

As you can see the puppies are playing quite a bit and are now doing rather well walking and climbing.

Tomorrow night they will reach the 4 week mark but we are going to see if they can make it to the 5 week mark to add food and we can then do it with both. If they tax mom or show us they need food, we will add it sooner. I may only make it to the end of the weekend. I do want them walking on linoleum by then as you want them able to stand and eat though we can put a waterproof pad under the pad. The messy fun begins then. Feeding will make it easier on mom. They will actually continue to eat most likely into their 7th to 8th week but by then its only a meal in the morning after a night without mom. Each litter is different and in this case we must sync the litters so they can both go upstairs together. Then I am cleaning the pen downstairs and the one upstairs. My laundry increases greatly.

Here is today's gallery.

I can't wait till their out of the pen play occurs. Going to be fun!
