Two Updates

Oh Safi what did those puppies do to your hair? Trim and shaping for you after the pups are gone and then the long wait for it to grow out. I appreciate your ragamuffin look as I know you earned it! Did you notice the white and black pup smiling? Yes, she smiles.

Here is today's gallery.

Oh what fun they had running and playing. They are so fast now. Check out this video.  This pose on the littlest one is called Flash Of Pad and is desirable. We had a visitor and she just fell in love with her. I get that! Her name will be Tenshi. Love that name!

Well now I start creating bags, doing paperwork and my usual grooming. First one goes home in less than a week. Oh my.... I am going to miss this crew in a HUGE way. I love them all but this was a surprise - like a gift and from Safi's delivery to now they have been great and easy pups. Yes, it's work etc but this journey has been great!

Hope the next 2 litters go just as smoothly as this one.

Two Bowls Really?

If the pups are not eating as much as Nathan thinks they should be I give them a bowl of Royal Canin Starter Mousse and they love it. You can add a bit into their kibble to add interest. I will be giving you a can to go home with. You will also get a 5lb bag of food. Sylvia and William brought blankets for all of you. There are a few other additions including a toy, shampoo, conditioner, grooming spray etc

Do bring a Sherpa bag or something similar to transport your baby. Even though they are small I would still get a large size.

Keeper

This girl will be remaining with us but if she remains too small, we will place her when she gets older. It is something we must do with Trouble though we have been struggling with as we love her so. Trouble has a class act personality like the black and white of Saffrons. We went back and forth between the black and white and this one. The smallest is a beauty as well but she will be on the smaller end. Nothing wrong with small except in the ring. (sigh) If it wasn't about the show, well she has my heart. She melts my heart. Holding her you know what I mean. Plus she is cute as a button!

This girl would be the 4th generation from Wasabi. We have high hopes. But we now need a name. It has to be a spice or a description of a spice. Let's look at this line's names.

Wasabi

Spicy Chipotle

Saffron

----

so what about

Pasilla pronounced Pah-SEE-yah - call name Seeya

or

Ancho Chile - callname Annie or anchie (pronounced ahnchee) or Chile

or

Guajillo Chile (pronounced wha – hee – oh)

or

Aji Panca (pronounced ah-hee pahn-ka) callname Aji (ahee)

or

Cilantro callname Lannie

or

Jalapeno - callname Hallie

and on and on we go.

Inside Visit

Thank you to all that came. Thank you to all that played with Saffron as well. Sometimes moms get forgotten as the pups are so cute. But you engaged in play with Saffron and I do so appreciate it!

Pups were wonderful. They ran and jumped in laps and had a grand time.

I washed them this morning as Dennis had them outside yesterday when it started to rain so they really needed it.

Here is the gallery from the visit.

Pups are about to go out to play again. They will have baths before they depart again. They start heading off to their new homes next weekend. Oh my! I will miss them like crazy. They are really a fun bunch.

Small Update

We were at the vets and tomorrow we are at a show. So, please understand that we will have small blogs. Come Sunday we have the families coming to see the pups and then the next weekend they can start going home. Oh boy... How did that happen? Sunday night we will be figuring out who is going where (with input from families).

Everything is a tad different due to the Judy pups. We will get back to a regular schedule with the Adele and Jeannie pups with 6 and 8 week visits.

Here is a gallery of them playing in the hall.

Pups are absolute dolls. They are such a laid back, loving and fun crew.

Quiet Day

Pups are really quiet today. It's as if they realize Amelia is gone. We also have to set up the Jeannie pen so it will be interesting to see how they react to that.

Here's a gallery.

We played in the hall today as its downright cold and rainy. We have had sleet. Tomorrow they say it will be warmer and Saturday even warmer. Crazy weather.

We had an escape artist today and it's not who you think.

Milk Perhaps

Hmm do you have milk? My mom has decided no milk for me so I am checking to see if you have some for me? hahahaha

Yes. Safi has completely weaned them. They were not happy but they are dealiung with it.

Pups had a great time outdoors today. See the gallery.

It's Emmy's last play session with them tonight and Murphy will also be heading home.

We also placed the pups in the large xpen and they didn't complain but I am not sure they liked it at first. They likes their small and cozy area. But by afternoon they were spreading their wings. They will stay in the large pen till they go to their forever home - at least during the day. Normally they would have already had the bigger area but we had the Rowan and Emmy pups in it. Now that Amelia is out with the adults and departing tomorrow, it is doable.

Fun Play Day

Auntie Murphy plays so well with the pups and its great to see Murphy and Saffron playing like they never stopped. It will help Saffron make the transition.

The pups had a grand amount of fun and as you will see in the gallery.  Plus they had the pleasure of Murphy and Emmy to play with. We had Amelia at first but she was a bit too much. Puppies are like that as they do not realize their strength. That's okay as Amelia plays great with the older crew and it appears Emmy is enjoying the pups in a huge way. It's nice that Saffron trusts her with them.

Two Updates Today: Vet Visit

Here are their vet photos. These are in order of birth and order of how they were checked at the vets.

He weighs 2lb 12 oz
She weighs 2lbs 14oz
He weighs 3lbs 2.5oz

She weighs 3lb 3oz
She weighs 2lb 8.5oz

See the gallery.

They started out fussing in the van. Where are we going? What are we doing? I had a cover over 3 walls and the top of the crate. When I removed the side walls they calmed down and settled in for the long trip. They slept the trip back and are now sleeping as I am typing.

Part of the car trip experience is finding out where they feel most comfie. Some do well up on a seat in a car seat. Some in a sherpa bag (should have one of these to go home.) No one drooled (sign of minor stress) or had an accident or got car sick. They didn't go till they got home. WOW and then they ate and drank and drank.

They had their fecal tested - negative of course. They tested ears, eyes, heart, patellas, skin, eyes, bites. Everyone is very healthy and he was so impressed with ther bites and their relaxed demeanor and heart rate. No racing - oh my gad where am I hearts. The vet was impressed and said well may have been an unexpected litter but what a great one. It was nice to hear!

Weights are really good and looking back at Fiona's pups even the smallest is larger than hers were at their 8 week visit.

Now to see if they are sore tomorrow. They just stood there and took it. Nathan said that's due to you, Lex (the vet) and he says no its the pups.

It was a long day but a good one. Now to head back on Friday for Jeannie and Adele.

Later Than Expected

Vet appointment was changed to 4pm. That means we depart in an hour. Pups have had a play session outdoors. Updates will be extra late - sorry!

Here is a gallery from their play session.

Plus here is a video from their play session. Gallery of vets will come late tonight.

Saffron's Exposures

Stairs of course - up, down no problem. Ms. Agile! She has never let anything stop her. Just love that spirit she has - the way she says I can, I can!

Pups had visitors - well they didn't come to see them but it was a bonus. We had Fenton's family come. They were on our list first and another family that was on our waiting list and both would have been happy with Fenton but they are now waiting for an Adele or Jeannie pups. They will be happy with an Adele or Jeannie pup. They make great pups. It's just hard to wait a a few months till you can bring him/her home. Just before Christmas they will have their 6 week visit and the excitement begins, if not before.

But while they were here they got to play with Saffron pups and I managed to capture a very small part of it. See the video.  Plus here is a mini gallery.

I was going to wash the crew but they are not truly dirty. Plus I have a back that is not happy today. I figure it is best to wash before they have visitors. Then this crew will start departing from the 5th November on. So 2 weeks from now they will head to their forever homes and most likely we will have new just born pups.

Time went by too fast on this crew. They are all special but this is Safi's surprise present to us and well it was a magical journey of awe. What was it day 2 you had a pup crawl over her. One has to laugh.

Tomorrow they head out to the vets. We will take Amelia as she is due for her 2nd shots. They will have a complete check up. They will get their microchip and first shots. We will find out how much they weigh. Then on Friday we are back to the vets for xrays for the moms. Got to laugh. On the 29th we head off to a dog show in Lindsay and I get to have my scissors sharpened and see a lot of people I know before the hard work and no sleep begins. Think we earned a day out. Our daughter and son will be taking care of things at home.

Updates tomorrow won't be till late as we are not at the vets till mid afternoon. It takes an hour and 15 minutes each way. Then I have to create the galleries and videos. Be patient. It will get done.

Back Out Again

The pups are back out again but I am not going to click anymore photos. Dennis and Saffron will just spend quality time with them. Pups had a delicious time outdoors.

Tonight they get their deworming. (we do this purely as preventative) and we will have their fecal tested on Monday at their vets visit. With rabbits etc invading our daughters veggie garden, it makes sense. But their bowels are pretty solid and they are really good at using the pad or outdoors.

Here is a gallery of them outdoors today. Nathan took the photos of the pups today and a few of the adults and I took the rest. I like Nathan's photos as he seems to capture them in a way that makes me smile.

Pups had a great time outdoors earlier as you will see in the video.

Monday morning I will get the crate ready for them for their long trip to the vets. Then we are back out there for xrays for Adele and Jeannie. Nothing times out for just 1 trip.

Fun Play Indoors: Video Added

We have had to play indoors as it is simply too mucky out and the human can only do so many baths so we gave fun inside. See the gallery.

Still Raining Geez

It's still raining and yep we are playing upstairs and in the hallways. It is fun to play inside too. Come Monday we are going to the vets for shots, microchip and a full checkup. It will be interesting to see how we do.

Today I tried to weigh them on my flat scale for dogs. Ms black and white kept running on it so a weight was hard to come by. It bopped from 2lbs 10 oz to 3lb. Who knows. She is the largest. But we are talking ounces. We head to the vet in 4 days and next weekend we have a visit and then the week after they start going home. Oh my. How did that happen?

See the gallery. I have enjoyed this crew immensely. I enjoy them all but what personalities on this crew. I believe Saffron will miss them. Me too. But they will be sensational additions to their new homes.

Momma Saffron is down to feeding twice a day but they so try. She warns them with a growl - no. They do listen to her. They are compliant souls. Some are extra persistent and then mom can't play with them. This crew is really good.

We also have a pup that figured out how to open the wipe container and steal the wipes. What a character. She's so smart!

No Blog Day Almost

Sorry but I was out today so I do not have videos and photos except for this. Today's gallery. Pups are really doing well. They are playing upstairs as outdoors was too wet.  I want to watch the debate tonight so blogs across the board will be short. Sorry!

I introduced some starter mousse to them again and they loved it. Funny when you don't feed something every day a new thing means yum!

I have video of their play upstairs but will p;ost tomorrow. Too much to do, too little time.

Tug and More

Saffron is indeed trying to get the pups down to a 2 feeding a day experience. When she gets too full she decides it is time and the pups go - thank you, Mommy!

I laugh as the pups go, okay mommy - we will try but okay you are serious. Okay, we believe you. She is such a good mom. She sounds like she is growling on commands to them but this is how they get them to wean. Interesting that Saffron knows this. Sometimes first moms can't say enough. It is best if they can as they get to nurture and teach and play with them. This is important.

Here is today's gallery.

We have a gal that plays tug with her mom and wins. Is it that Saffron is allowing her to win or she is that good? Time will tell. I notice just how much Saffron teaches them by playing. Saffron fascinates me.

Rainy Day

It's wonderful when we feel like we escape. Okay we are not escaping in the true sense but once that human takes us out of the xpen, we run around like banshees and have a grand time. It's rainy today so only the older pups are going outside. Tomorrow is suppposed to be dryer or maybe not. That's okay, it's raining food. You see Momma Safi was on the couch and the human put her dish up so we couldn't get it and she knocked it over ON PURPOSE for us. Oh my.

Here is today's gallery. It's a short one.

Upstairs and Downstairs

We had a lot of indoor play today due to the rain. I have a video of them playing upstairs but won't share it till tomorrow. The blogs are all consuming at times and I have to also seek balance with dog and tv time. So bear with me. That particular video will come out tomorrow.

How did they do? No fear at all. Oh, a new place - cool! Here is a gallery.

Momma Safi is trying to get them down to a night feeding and a morning feeding. This way she just takes off the pressure of too much milk but says the milk bar is closing. She has lasted longer than I expected and pups are gaining with the reduced feeding so it is time.

Visiting Time

Did we have fun with all the humans? YEP! Here is a gallery. Thank you to everyone that came. We also brought out Jeannie and Adele. Both are obviously pregnant. Saffron watched Jeannie and Adele like a hawk. These are my precious beings, you know.

We did the 1st half letting them run around. Here is the video. They had a great time and I hope the humans did too.

Thank you to Sylvia and William for bringing a present for the pups. I will put it in with them tomorrow. They are going to love it!

Then we headed up to the deck. Here is the video from that portion. Then we took out Rowan and Emmy pups. You will have to see them on their page.

Bath Time

This is the smallest gal. She is going to remain smaller. She played in the water. Good one! She was absolutely great! She's a living doll with a personality to match.

She didn't like the bath as much as her sister but she also didn't react. She just stood there as if to say what are you doing? The dryer - no problem. That seemed to tickle her fancy.

What I found interesting was Saffron was fussing while I was bathing them. Not sure if she didn't like the smell of them or that they were getting a bath. Did she think I was hurting her babies? Saffron never fusses.

This girl also took her paws and splashed as if it was a fascinating game. I think she liked it! This is the last of the girls.

This one is a boy. He has colours that will continue to bleed through. He didn't play in the water but also wasn't upset about the experience either. He found the dryer fascinating.

This is the last boy. He liked the bath the least. But really none of them hated it. Some just liked it better than others. To me they were a great crew to bathe!  Here is the gallery.

Tomorrow we get to see how they do with everyone. It's supposed to be a warm day so we will be doing this out back. Come around back when you arrive.
