Temps Etc
Her temps this morning is 101.7 which is normal for a dog. Google it. We celebrate. Pups all gained. She was BEYOND excited to see me. Must be the massages. She is not acting in pain. They did say pain for 3 to 4 days. Yesterday she was doing something that was concerning to me. She was sitting up and staring not moving for big periods of time. When I sent mail to my vet she said she is managing her pain and this should subside and if not, bring her in. She is no longer doing this. She is VERY happy with her pups. Shows them off to Misty. Now Misty doesn't want Raven to see hers. How funny.
More later.

Yay! So nice to start the day with great news.
Very happy news. Thanks for the update.
This is amazing news. Steady on and hope she passes this hump quickly!
OMG. So sweet. Raven is a brave girl. She is saving herself for her puppies and she is so caring. I remember her when she was born. Gentle and sweet and she still is. Bravo Raven.
Hi Darlah, Thank you for the update. This is very happy news! I hope you feel better everyday Raven.
Raven's doing just what is necessary to heal, little movement, good girl. And I guess Misty thinks Raven is going to take some more pups away from her, what a mama!
Great news for a Monday morning.
How very wonderful to hear this. Misty is so funny. I can just hear her saying, "Raven, you already stole 3 of my puppies, you're not getting any more".....
What a brave mama. So happy to read this. We have been thinking of her š
We are celebrating here! This is wonderful news- Raven is such a brave momma.
Thanks for the update. Such good news!
Great news ! She's definitely on the mend. Funny about Misty.
Phew! What a relief. Dogs are so amazing
So glad to hear that Raven is starting to feel better!
Glad Raven is doing not too shabby on post-op day #2! And the pups are gaining weight, thatās amazing! Do you need to supplement feeding with Misty?
Out of curiosity, how do you manage to keep Raven from licking or chewing on her stitches, also how do you manage to get the pups not to chew on Ravenās stitches? I donāt think you can put a cone on Raven since she has to nurse the puppies. I am just wondering how it all works...
Sylvia: Pups never go after stitches it seems - they smell and go for milk and feel for a nipple and moms never seem to go after stitches even when healing. I mean Risa had her spaying and never had pain pills nor a cone. It's easy as someone is always awake 24/7 unlike the norm. The stitches - will have to take a photo are the cleanest I have seen. I doubt they could even chew on them. They are clear and quite nice. It's almost as if they are not there. They are dissolving. The stitches inside are also dissolving. Due to ruptured uterus she had to have stitches inside. I will try to get Nathan to hold her so I can get a photo.
Oh and she stopped staying in one place and staring. That sort of concerned me till the vet said it was pain management. Sounds like her pain is better or she is used to it but no wincing when holding her. She's amazing!
Re: Misty, I think she thinks Raven took her pups and does not want anymore to go. Raven ignored her.
How interesting that they are ignoring the incision!
Tenshi has her spaying surgery and also the recent cyst removal, both times had stitches. I took off the cone because she seems to be managing fine, no signs of wanting to go near the stitches. She would wait until Will and I are busy with something, not watching her, and she would sneak into the bedroom and start on her ālets take off stitchesā project. For both times, she managed to chew off one stitch off. Then I feel terrible, feeling like Iām a complete failure as a dog owner. Then I start frantically doing dressings on her, and the cone goes back on.
Iām glad that Raven is it in too much pain. I wonder if nursing triggers some hormones that make the pain experience more tolerable...
Such great news!
So happy to hear Raven is on her way to full health. Thank goodness she has her puppies and you to help her through. Congratulations on getting to the āother sideā!
What great news! Darla you sound so relieved... hopefully you can breathe now. Raven is so amazing and weāre glad she is happy and recovering well. So funny / interesting to hear how Misty is treating Raven. Sweetie.... they just make my heat smile! š
So happy to hear that Raven is feeling more comfortable. Seeing her look at you with bright eyes of love is wonderful. She is a strong girl loving up her three cuties! So relieved!
Congrats!
That was such awesome news to read this morning!
So glad Raven is on the mend.
Misty is so funny haha ā¤ļø
Thank you all! I am so relieved. Still waiting to make sure the ax doesn't drop but all great signs. I may sleep tonight. Do you notice the timestamps on the videos? I take them all night.
Sylvia: I find non moms do go after stitches. I didn't even think of a cone nor did emerg mention. She would not have been happy as they need to clean pups etc. I think she gets twinges and goes to look but even refrains from licking. I imagine pups would hurt the area if they tried to feed at the incision site but at this stage everything is touch and smell. I bet you the incision does not smell desirable to them. When Raven goes outside everyone including Tenshi smells her up.
Tenshi is such a mischievous dog at times I imagine she said I can't I can't let's hide I can. They won't know.
Misty and Raven are both funny today. Raven says not inside the whelping box. Misty says I think those are my pups. Nathan said to her, are you coloured blind. The black and whites are yours. Of course he was teasing but it was funny. Misty looked at him as if she was either confused or said oh.
Thatās really interesting to see the interaction of the two moms. Iām glad that Nathan is using his humour so appropriately haha. Iām sure Raven smells different due to the antiseptic solution the vet use on the surgical site. And yes, Tenshi can be mischievous and thatās why we love her :)
Sylvia: Yes that sense of humour - it gets one by, It's funny. He talks to the dogs like I do as if they understand perfectly and perhaps they do. LOL By the way, no surgical glue though they used it in Nathan and his incision is amazing.
