1 Week Old

I can't believe one week ago they made their debut. They all started out smaller than Spirit's at birth as Spirit had more room to grow but looking at their age, they are on the same growth pattern as Spirit's. They also have the very beginning of squinty eyes. What does that mean? We will watch and see who opens their eyes first. How exciting.

Here is the gallery.

The littlest gal has slowed down her eating. I am thankful as I didn't want her to aspirate. She's still growing but she is not frantic eating. She still remains the smallest but not drastic. She seems to be the smallest in body length which is similar to her Momma Tempie.

I must say Tempie is quite the wonderful Mom. We knew Spirit is but you never know with 1st time moms. I have not had a mom that was discinnected or wasn't so interested but I hear of others that have so I hold my breath each time you have a brand new mom. Then I am elighted at how much they love the pups.

Be sure to check out the videos.

6 Days Old

They find mom more times than not if hungry. Tempie is such a natural mom. As a 1st timer, one never knows but she embraces this role.

Here is the gallery.

They are plump little things. when I hold them after eating, I swear their bellies are going to burst. I have to laugh.

Usually new moms are  afraid to leave them but Tempie watches Spirit and when they sleep she goes out to do her business or comes to sit on my lap and cuddle. It is so important that moms feel loved and not overwhelmed so when the pups sleep, they get special time too. I know it's about the pups but to me a happy mom makes for happy pups and well look at all the work they do to bring families a wonderful addition to their lives.

Be sure to check out the videos.

5 Days Old

Sometimes I have to look it up on my chart and say - how old are you now?

Here is the gallery.

Simetimes Tempie makes a mess out of the whelping box with food and sometimes she drags it into teh whelping box to watch closely and chow down at the same time.

Tempie has now made it up on the couch. I guess where there is a will, there is a way.

Be sure to check out the videos.

The littlest gal is still sometimes - not all the time a frantic eater. She is slowing down.

4 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

The Tempie pups are 4 days old and she still wants to hide them. Safety is tucking them in. LOL

They are getting plump. They eat and their tummies are round.

Each day I pick them up several times a day to get them used to me holding them. Conditioning has begun.

Check out the videos.

3 Days Old

The pups are 3 days old now. This one is a tri.

Here is the gallery.

We have 1 puppy eating too fast. I am no longer allowing him to go on the bottom milk stations if I see him. Those milk stations carry the most milk. It all sorts itself out especially when food is introduced. He's not always like that unless he skips a feeding. Which makes sense. Why do they skip feedings. They need to sleep and growth occurs when they are sleeping. Unless grooming, I place them all on to avoid missed feedings. Their growth is really good so no concern. I just mention as an interesting tidbit. I pay attention to it all.

Pups are now all high 6oz frame to 7 plus frame. remember what they started at?

They are lively as you can see in the videos.

Pups Are Here

Click on Photos for Larger View1st born at 728pm is a boy. He weighs 4-7/8oz 139g Possible black or brown tri. Have to wait till dry. First born has white tip on tail, 4 white feet and a white streak on chest. I am putting up these markings so when I weigh them in the morning, I know who is whom.

Click on Photo for Larger ViewSecond is a gal smaller but lovely. She was born at 8pm. She weighs 4-2/8oz 122g

Tempie has milk!!!!

Click on Photo for Larger ViewThird born is a boy born at 833pm. He weighs 5-2/8oz 150g. Pups hard to tell if brown or black. Beige on face. Looks brown already.

Click on Photos for larger ViewLast one is a gal. She was born at 928pm. She weighs 4-6/8oz 137g

All pups are very lively and eating. Tempie had an easy delivery though she tried to chew off the cord of teh first - that's instinct so we left the hemostats on longer. Not an issue but shows how excited she was to take care of him.

Here is the gallery.

Mom is eating. All placentas came out and she is happy happy happy. She even let Spirit look at her pups as you may see on one of the videos. Videos will be uploaded shortly. I have my regular chores to do before bed and Dennis will be up with them. I stay up if pups have issues or are too small or won't feed. No issues here. Though smaller than Spirit's it's the guppy syndrome. They can only grow as much as there is room.

Videos will be found here.

No Food Again

Temps went down to 98.6 but back up to 99. She won't stop hiding under the recliner, which is a dangerous place to have pups so she is in with me and crying. Can't win. We shall see how this progresses.

I am going to try to have her sit on my lap.
