Fun and Plans

Finn has been having a total grand time but so has everyone. Not a single dog is just hanging out but instead they are socializing and truly having an amazing time. Here's a gallery from today. I didn't groom as I took a day off. Can you imagine that but instead I played with the dogs and filled up a bag with weeds and there are so many more. heh
I also managed to get a strawberry before Jeannie and now *&^ Saffron does.
I will be extra busy till Tuesday as we have a show to get ready for, dogs going home and many grooms. It's why I took off today. So ignore their messy hairdos and just enjoy their moments.
With much consideration we have decided to breed Adele to Newton. It means that Nathan will spend a few days in Sudbury at Paula's whenever she is at her peak. She is not in heat yet. As he can't spend 3 weeks there we will test to get an idea of when she is in peak so we will know more accurately when she is due. It is expensive to test but this way we can guarantee the timing. We are also going to be breeding Leti to Truffie when she is in heat. We are expecting great pups from these litters. I know some of you are anxious but I would love to have a summer without heats but fat chance, I imagine. We shall see.

Exciting times. When do you expect these two to go into heat, or is this something that "just happens when it happens"? I have no knowledge of dawgie heats. Will enjoy following these two and their motherhood journeys.
Who is the dog in the last pictures? I have a feeling Murphy's going to have some similar colouring.
Adele is due last month or this then there is 63 days of gestation. Leti is due August/September. It happens when it happens. They can come in early or late. It drives me crazy.
Last picture - where in the gallery?
Finn is such a cutie. Congratulations Darlah, I hope that you enjoyed your 'day off',
even though you spent time filling a bag full of weeds.
Sorry, yes in the galler.
That's Coco. She is an amazing dancer and so is her sister Doozie.
Finn had so much hair so little by little I am getting rid of some of that thickness. He is a character.
I just love Finn's colouring. I haven't seen many with that silvery grey colour. Hope you had a wonderful day relaxing a bit and didn't spend too much time pulling weeds. Where does Newton fit into the picture, I mean is he related to any of your dogs?
Yippee. I love watching the litter diaries. I know it is a lot of work but everyone wants a Talemaker puppy.
Newton is Paula and Tracy's dog. He is an outcross (not related). He is an american/canadian grand champion and multiple specialty winner. He is a good compliment for Adele health and structurally. Every now and then you have to outcross to make sure you have healthy gene lines but of course you can get surprises when doing so. I assume with all the sables in both the Leti and Adele planned breedings we should see sables as pups but anything is possible. There are very few black and whites and black and whites are dominant always. Genetics always gives one surprises. We choose to put the odds in our favour in what you are trying to achieve and then every now and then you get a slap to reality that we can't control everything. Leti and Truffie is exciting to me but I expect smaller dogs, Adele and Newton I expect sturdier dogs. But Adele does have small in her line so who knows. Adele's breeding will cost a lot of $$ from the cost of the sire to the progesterone testing. But truly I can't say whose pups will be the most stunning as I am excited about both. WE shall see....
Silver is from our Kat. There are not too many true silvers but he tends to throw them. Finn's silvers like Kats have a myriad of shades. I rather like it! Truffie who is chocolate has a variety of browns and silver in his coat.
Oh, even thought of more puppies (Leti and Truffle!!) makes me want to go through the whole experience again from heat to pup. It's an amazing roller coaster of emotion and I was glued to the posts each day. Well, I still am....
I just love Finn's colouring and I like his "hair cut" too !
Finn is beautiful! Wow, the thought of two upcoming litters with two new moms. So exciting !!!
Just found a pic of Newton from an old blog. He is beautiful!!!
He is a compliment. Hope with the 2 I will get what I want. It will surely be a costly endeavour. hehehe
Sherry: Love that you love her. She has a special soul. Amazing personalities in these 2 litters.
Curious as to how the testing works! When and how is she tested? Any clue, as of yet, of when she might go into heat? I hope we'll see photos of the two of them, once Adele's page is created. :-)
When Adele goes into heat (you can predict but they surprise you being a little early or late). Adele is due anytime now. Once she goes into heat on day 4 you start doing progesterone testing. It takes 24 hours to know if she is prime for breeding. If the first one comes back not high enough you test again. It can get costly as some are npt prime till day 20. We had that happen once and a grand later.... You have a 24 to 48 hour window depending on the reading. That means when we are told she is prime we start driving. At least its only 4 hours away. You need her the day of and the day after. When we did this with Risa it was a 15 hour drive. It makes predicting when pups are being born more accurate. Without testing you are predicting based on how long the tie was and that can be off. It will happen when it happens. It should be soon. I will create a page for Adele though I was going to do it when she went into heat.
I placed her blog up. Thought she was already up. :-)
