Mighty Rainy

It's been raining and I have been brushing and combing. I sort of give up as the dogs come in looking like wet rags. It reminds me of me last night. I hadn't been able to get a shower in all day and last night I tooik one and went to bed with wet hair. My hair was interesting in the morning but I may do it again tonight. I felt like a wet dog but it surely cooled me off. hahaha

We did a lot of indoor play today. Fetching was one of the games and I found out Stone likes to win.

Here's the small gallery.

Also found out (well I knew) that Logan was not pleased with wet legs as it means brushing out. He wasn't the only one.

Plus I am still looking for baby comforters so if you see any for sale, please send the link my way.

I am also trying to find someone that can make me a contact ramp (agility) just a mini tiny one for the pups. Trouble wasn't crazy about the one at class so I want a mini one to expose the pups to it. I also want to do a wobble board. Let me know if you see any.

We are surviving. Moms bark each time someone comes. (poor Dennis as he sleeps during the day). We are doing a lot of no barks. Plus Inula being in heat throws a curve in everything. So I have her isolated with just gals. Heats are not fun. 2 more weeks and counting.

Oh and Mother's Day next week. When did that happen so fast. yikes. Remember doggie moms - you are moms too!

I don't notice it when I'm with her but when I look at the pictures of Murphy I can see her changing. Seems like her face is getting thinner and longer and has such an elegant look.

Maybe Stone would like Fly Ball.

Hi Darlah we have used an upside down garbage can lid as a wobble board, and also a folded ironing board on the floor as a contact and wobble board combined as they are usually just enough off balance to move a bit.

Oh Gerda that's an interesting idea. Thanks!!

What is a contact ramp?
I have seen wobble boards on line but they vary so much in price from $14.99 to $35 plus.
How would you use these with the pups?

Thanks
Mo

You use it as another way to condition the dogs. If they are dealing with a surface early on, they are more apt to adapt quicker as it is the norm. For instance I have this hanging play center that makes noises and feels funny when they walk through it. The adults had a more difficult time adapting to it but the pups just walked through it as if it was something you normally do.

When I see something bother the pups, I like to do some early conditioning and if I can do it by simply having it there to explore, all the better. Slow conditioning is the best. The contact ramp I would need is a low to the ground ramp that they walk up and down on. It would also give me some insight into everything from their readiness to try new things to how adventurous or not adventurous they are.

I am always trying to perfect some exposures to help the pups be all they can be early on. Early conditioning builds coping skills and although they will be afraid all their lives to new things, early conditioning builds coping skills. This will help them deal with new things quicker.
