Hallie Temps Updated Yet Again

This is Hallie this morning after her temps were taken. She is sitting at 99.9. Normal temperatures for a dog are 101°F to 102.5°F (38.3°C to 39.2°C) So, her temps are going down but not there yet. I will take it again later to see if it goes up or down or remains the same.

Hallie's head hair is interesting. I am letting it grow back out. Her last litter she let the pups chew her head hair after they got teeth. It was even more hari kari and now we are midstream back to it growing.

She's such a good mom that she lets them crawl all through her hair. Both Nami and Hallie's hair is such that it is, it hardly knots. It makes the having pups stage easier.

At 345pm she is sitting at 99.3. Her temps are still heading down. She's not there yet but I will continue to check temps. We are looking at 98f - a true 98.

*She is now at 621pm down to 99.1 So she is still descending. This morning on the 11th, she is still at 99.1. We will check it again near noon. She is still eating in a HUGE way so no stage 1 yet.

Just 3

Xrays will be posted when received. Yes, only 3 so it means we caught her too late or too early. It happens but I bet they will be beautiful. She's not ready. No pups near opening as you will see when I get the xrays.

Hallie Messy Attire

Here are her belly shots

I thought about giving Hallie a short haircut but I decided not to. You see, Hallie is a physical dog. She lets her pups chew her hair and make a mess of her so I may give her one after her pups have departed. Both are excellent moms and that is an understatement. They adore the babies. Hallie is just a dog that thinks puppies crawling through her hair and munching on her is what motherhood is all about. She also usually has more pups that Nami has. We will find out if it is true this time after xrays.

Hallie wiggles her entire body when she is happy, Nami wags her tail when she is happy. Hallie is just a very happy dog always. Another dog jumps on her and she says - okay let's play. She never sees it as anything more than fun.

She is 4 to 7 days behind Nami but seriously it is hard to tell as it all depends on the day they ovulate and you have an idea but it is not an exact science.

We will wait for labour, not eating, vomiting and nesting and possibly agitated and then we know soon. We also check temps to get an idea.

Hallie has a longer body. Nami has a shorter body. Sizing and numbers play a part but you get surprises.

We are not done with Hallie's whelping area. I am hoping to have it done by tomorrow morning. I should get it done tonight but I still have 2 dogs to groom. So, we shall see.

The heating lamp, towels, camera all in place but the supplies will move from one pen to the next after Nami gives birth but the rest will be in place.

Lots to do. But exciting times are coming.

What is Next?

Hallie is potentially a week later than Nami but it could be less. She s not as large as Nami but that last week has a lot of growing that occurs. Xrays will give us the total pups. It will also tell us if she is ready or it will be the latter date.

Xrays will be in the afternoon so the blog will not be updated till later that day on August 5th.

Exciting times are coming. Yoshi's xrays will be the last week of her pregnancy.

Hallie is eating a ton. She is hungry and can you blame her? She's feeding pups.
