Haircut and Fun: 2 Updates

Nathan looked at himself and said I need to get a haircut so he did today.

Shady and Nora departed after baths. Isn't that a mischievous face on Nora. They both played up a storm but everyone did. Ringo was just here overnight and is departing tonight as they are doing the moving thing. See Shannon you aren't the only one who moves in winter. :-)

Today things have been melting - not enough yet but enough to get everyone soaked. I did manage to groom everyone but Truffie. He gets a grooming before bed. I just did one here and there till done.

The crew played outside a ton despite the wet. It's why my grooming is taking so long.

Here are a few photos from today.

You know why I love Cali so? She makes some of the most expressive faces of glee.

As part of the fun we started doing some training with each. Leti is so excited about treats she can't control herself - oh oh another one. We have been doing recall with all.

It's wonderful to see what the older ones know.

But unless you were plying them with treats they preferred the running game.

These are still not my photos and they didn't get them all. Still can't fit the foot into a boot but I am going to try tomorrow. Every single one is having the time of their lives tuckering themselves out.

Love the pictures. Leti caught in mid air tells her story. I am totally smitten with Jeannie, I love the shot of her looking . What can I say about Cali, she is a live wire for sure.

Lynda: Too kind of you. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Looking forward to seeing you Monday!

I looked at That first photo and thought - gee that looks like Pepper....must be Nora then :)

Darlah, I just read your tale of many woes.....hope you are better soon! How do you manage all that you do in spite of being sick and injuring yourself? I have to say I'm a big crybaby myself so I find it amazing that you never slow down :)

Alene, if you read this, I'm curious how much Nora weighs now.

December 28, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLori

Who are the dogs in the 1st two photos? I won't dare guess - too many possibilities. All gorgeous!!!

December 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDebi & Laci

I missed the 1st 2 photos . . . know who they are. Nora has beautiful shiny & silky looking hair. Correction - Who are the dogs in pictures #3,4,5? Thx.

December 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDebi & Laci

3rd from top counting the top 2 are Nora and Shady and numbers 3,4 and 5 are there.
3- Adele (abigails)
4- Bentley Adele's brother (abigails)
5- Ty (treasure)

Lori: I will ask Alene but I guess approx 6lbs. We will see without weighing how good that guess is.

Re: keep going - I have been conditioned. :-)

lori, i think nora weighs 7 lbs. she is tiny but so agile, quicker than shady even. she is still very growly in her play with shady and my family if bothered (never me!) but ridiculously affectionate with all including strangers. sound like pepper? what does she weigh?

December 29, 2013 | Unregistered Commenteralene

Alene glad you still read the area. I would have guessed 6lb. If she is 7lbs then she is what Fiona was till she had pups. Now Fiona is 9lbs-10lbs or so. I think Lori said Pepper is 8lbs but she is here so I will have to check. Didn't think to do that with Nora. By the way Spice still does the growly play thing especially with her pups. If its not desirable tell them to stop the play and she will eventually get it. She is very agile but that comes fro the Wasabi line. I think they have a gazelle gene in them. Hope you liked how they looked and sorry I couldn't come out. The foot slows me down and I am not a fan of spreading my germs seeing I have had some flu thing going on.

Thx Darlah. Adele's brother is beautiful too! And, I figured out the rest . . . I think. :-)

December 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDebi & Laci

That Miss Abs has wonderful pups. :-)

December 29, 2013 | Registered CommenterDarlah

i wonder if nora will gain weight even though she won't be having puppies, unless we can do a reverse spay on her. i wonder how much that would cost! i don't mind the growling when she plays with shady, we think its funny as she sounds like a real wild animal and sometimes scares shady. he's got size and she's got the growl so it evens out their play. they both looked and feel terrific after their baths, thank you! what did you think of their haircuts? i think shady's is a bit choppy myself but nora's is so cute. they are completely exhausted still from being at your place.

December 29, 2013 | Unregistered Commenteralene

Alene: that sounds just like Pepper. Havent weighed her in a long time but she was last around 8 lbs and I don't feel her getting any heavier. We say Pepper has boundary issues because she insists on licking your face whether you like it or not!
Gotta love her, she is such an attention monster :)

December 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLori

Lori: That's partly Nathan and partly Spice. Spice is the happiest dog I have ever seen. You can get mad at her and she still remains happy, happy, happy. I want her attitude. She is also a licky face but Nathan loves the kisses and get them all kissing but nothing quite like Spice's pups. You can correct and I have even seen them licking the air as they want to but know you don't want them to. Funny Wasabi is NOT a licky dog. It's a marvelous thing if she extols one on you. What I have noticed is when Spice/Wasabi pups are happy they show it with their entire bodies. With the pokey beard coming in the pups are not kissing him but kissing me. hahahaha

December 30, 2013 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Alene: She will gain weight as we all do when older - well some of us. :-) I expect them to still grow till 18 months - some wider - some taller.

Funny, was just telling Doug yesterday to stop Laci from licking his hands. I believe it comes from encouragement as she doesn't lick mine b/c I never allowed it. Mainly due to one grandson being allergic and it causes hives on him . . . also my daughters. The other grandson encourages licks as well and if I catch them in the act, he then says, "Oh stop Laci!" LOL I told him he's not fooling me and it's not fair to teach her something that bothers others. That's the boys and men for you!!! :-) There's always a learning curve . . . but it's always fun.

December 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDebi & Laci

Lori: Pepper is just shy of 9lb. Your turn, Alene. :-) You realize that Spice is non pregnant about 10.5 lbs.

December 30, 2013 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Deb: Yeah men....

December 30, 2013 | Registered CommenterDarlah

Darlah, can you weigh Scruffy or will he break your scale?
Pepper feels light as a feather and Scruffy is like a ton of bricks! If she is close to 9lbs, I can't imagine how much Scruffy weighs.

In our family, everyone pretends they don't like the licking but they all secretly do. They encourage her do it if she doesn't, and then pretend to complain about it when she does. When Pepper shows you how excited she is to see you, it's quite wonderful and totally irresistible. We can't teach her otherwise because, truthfully, if she stopped doing it, we would all miss it and she knows it too. I love that Spicy is like that and that she passes it on to her pups. Its really hard to be upset around them.
Scruffy is not a licker at all but I can coax some out of him when I really want them. And when he does give licks, you feel like you've won the lottery.

December 30, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLori

I understand you and your family enjoying the licks Lori, but when you have some allergic members you have to do what's best for them. If a dog can lick one, they will lick all and one grandson will get the hugest puffy eyes along w/ hives. Unfortunate that some have allergies. Had we not had this issue we would definitely have another puppy by now. I hold out optimism that our youngest grandson will out grow this. His sister was once the same w/ our Bichon, but she's fine now. Yea!!
