Visit and Play

Here is the gallery before the visit.

As one of the families getting a pup had their dog boarding here, we had them do their visit today instead of picking up Bonham and then coming back the next day. So, the pups had a test run today. How did they do? Fabulous though one fell asleep towards the end.

Here is the gallery of the visit.

How did the visit go? It went well. These pups are friendly. They love people and they are still sleeping. LOL

They did have a huge play session this morning but won't on tomorrow's visit. We will see if it makes them extra active.

The pups do not last long at this age. Within the hour they are winding down. It all depends when they slept. At the 8 week visit they last longer.

This visit was done in the hall. Tomorrow's visit due to how many are coming will be done in the kitchen.

Pups are now playing with Rain, Hope and Petey without issue. Dennis will be taking them out after supper when they wake up to play. I did the morning play session.

1st bath and Playing With Older Pups

Here is the gallery.

The pups were not c razy about the bath but not terrible either. I figure by the 3rd bath they will be conditioned. They didn't mind the blow drying in the crate but they did pile up on each other. I call it a success.

After they dried mostly, we headed upstairs to play. The older pups were taking a nap with Nathan. When they woke up, we were able to expose Cinnamon's pups to the older pups and they were wonderful. Petey thought they were gremlins at 1st but soon warmed up. Hope was gentle and kissing them up. Hazel and Rain were great. Who would have thought with so much difference in age. That is a testament to this crew and the older crew. I am so proud of them.

You will be able to see some of it (not baths as I had no ability to juggle) with the older crew on the videos.

Weights and All

Here is the gallery.

Pups really enjoy the upstairs due to so much room to run, jump amd play and also there are some unique items upstairs that we do not bring downstairs.

As you can see there is a scale on the floor. We attempted to keep them on the scale and announce how much they weigh. It was comdey hour but we got it done. You will have to watch the video to see what they do weigh.

The pups all have solid stool. I dread the next deworming. LOL

I am going to wash the pups tomorrow as I simply have no other time and I am going to do them together. On the 8th week and 10 week going home, I will do individuals. As it is Family Day weekend we have a lot of visitors so it is the best I can do. Will this crew cooperate as a crew in the tub? We shall see. It takes approx 15 minutes per puppy to do one by one.

Pups are getting older and they are perfecting their skills. It is wonderful to watch.

5 Weeks 4 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

Puppies had their 1st time upstairs and was exploring and having a great time. What a wonderful experience for them and me.

This blog is short as I have grooming to still do due to snow coming.

I will get to the videos before bed. Sorry...

Trying to Figure Out

Here is the gallery.

I need to wash 7 pups but I doubt I will have time to do 1 at a time this time this week. I will for the 8 week visit. So, the pups will have their bath 7 together. We shall see how it goes.

Pups are rather good at hopping, running. They are incredibly cute.

Need to do a short blog today - sorry.

5 Weeks 2 Days Finally

Here is the gallery.

We woke up to hardly any output and fully formed. How is that for details. Words of wisdom, never deworm and change foods. Initially they were on a soft food of Mousse and then went to Fromms which has many flavours that won't upset their tummy. You never do both of these at once and well Deworming can create awful stools. It has passed.

Pups have been out in the hall.

If you look at this bed, Momma Cinnamon jumped on it and kept flattening it down so her pups could lay on it. How brilliant is that?

Today, on videos I caught her surrounded by her pups snuggling while she gave them kisses. She is such an amazing mom!

Messy Times

Here is the gallery.

Well, yesterday I not only changed their food and dewormed all in the same day but we also placed them upstairs without mom.

Cleaning bums, the pen, pads has not been fun. They were fine with upstairs. I watched and mostly the slept till they had to go. They have small bladders and tummies at this age so sleeping through the night is way too early. My mistake was changing the food and deworming at once. We are still cleaning up (ok, I am) but it is better than last night and this morning. I cringed every time I came in as I knew it was a huge job between washing puppy bottoms and cleaning the pen plus oh that laundry. This is why we deworm to save you the fun. Deworming more times than not loosens their stools. Add in a change of food and it is a disaster.

So, they survived the night. They are now 5 weeks old tonight. They are walking on flooring. They have started climbing though not climbing out of the xpen yet as we have both gates open in case mom wants to feed them.

Otherwise they came out. They played. Dogs were barking. Loud noises from the humans. Reminder I am taking videos but I almost gave up.

Next Sunday the 6 week visit. Wow

Firsts Again

Here is the gallery.

The pups had their first deworming today. They will have 2 to 3 more as a preventative otherwise you will have to deal with it. They often get loose stools after it so better us contend with it vs. you.

They also had their 1st solid kibble with chicken. They took to it as if they said why didn't you do this sooner but we can't. We start this when they start getting teeth. We shall see how their bowels are after deworming and hard food. Whatever occurs, this too shall pass. LOL

Pups are no longer using a blanket when they go out in the hall. They can walk quite effectively and some run on the tile. It is amazing how quick it has occured.

Cinnamon remains an amazing mom. She treats them as if they are the most precious beings in the world and they are.

Will we make it upstairs tonight? We shall see.

4 Weeks 5 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

We are trying to figure out when these pups will head upstairs without mom at night. Dennis has to sterilize everything even though he did that already. He has a new blacklight so he will go over everything to catch anything he missed. Will it be tonight or tomorrow or? Stay tuned.

The pups are mighty solid on the flooring. They run on it at times.

Momma shared a rib bone with the pups and a couple have - must clean bums after they go moments. No more bones for them. It was too early but momma just couldn't help herself sharing with her babies.

They are staying out longer and I usually take them out when Rain and Hope are napping with Nathan.

Maybe I need to take them out twice a day now. I am the only one doing the take them out. I have grooming all this afternoon for people due to Chinese New Year so not today unless it si Nathan or Dennis. We shall see. They are not crying to come out.

Pups had a great time.

4 Weeks 4 Days Plus Rain and Hope

Here is the gallery. I am sorry but I have Hope and Rain at the end as I had deleted the photos by mistake but they were still in the gallery and I havanen't figured out how to recover them.

The pups had another successful time out in the hall. They seem to look forward to it. Soon I will be increasing them to twice a day. They are eating well. They are playing with each other and mom tends to - well mother them as if they are the most precious beings in the world and they are!

Yoshi spent most of the time with the pups. Cinnamon growled under her breath when she started to eat the pups food. I said Cinnamon its okay, I can give them more and she relaxed. Yoshi is going to be an amazing amount of fun with these pups. She was as gentle as she can be. I consider us lucky to have Yoshi.

Sea Legs Going Well

Here is the gallery.

The pups are perfecting their sea legs quite quickly. They are doing a good job with the flooring in their xpen and the tile out in the hall. Each day gets better and better.

To say they are good eaters of the solid food is an understatement. I put 2 cans out each time and in 5 to 10 minutes it is gone and not from mom. Their bowels are good. By the end of the week I may try them on soften kibble with chicken. I wonder how they aill do with that.

They seem to take and embracer all new things.

They are eating mom's head hair though and she may end up with none. She let's them crawl all over her, munch on her hair and she just smiles. She is truly an outstanding mom.

Dennis changed up the pen and they are hitting the pad more times than not now. Sometimes you just have to be creative.

Later this week - with some energy we may take them upstairs to play. If I took them up today, I doubt they would have ny issues.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

Dennis tells me he took some videos. I will have to look and upload. I was busy grooming dogs going home so the 1st time I got to play with either set of pups is when Sage and Nami's went up for a nap with Nathan and I finished grooming mostly. I take them out when Nathan is gone as I can have them play in the hall.

4 Weeks 2 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

This is the 2nd time they are out in the hall. I tried to do it all by myself so with tripod and pups and me, I think we pulled it off. They are practicing walking on the tile. They are actually doing well. Consider that they only had flooring experience since yesterday. They are doing wonderful!

I was out for a short bit today so less videos but not less photos.

We are going to rearrange the pen to enable more effectiveness with the pads. Let's see if it helps. As of now they have to go clear across the pen to use them and they are just getting solid on their legs. Some are doing well. Others not but they are mighty young so not really worried. We just want to make consistency easier to obtain. You always set them up for success.

Today, I cleaned the xpen and had the video rolling. After I was done, I was able to see what they were up to while I was not right there. They were perfect!

Another First

Here is the gallery.

At 4 weeks and 1 day, the pups had another 1st. They had a travel in the sherpa bag out to the hall to play. It was their very first time and as you will see in the photos and videos, they didn't have any issue with it. They would have stayed longer.

They travelled back with the sherpa to their xpen and i made them 2 cans of mousse and they proceeded to eat it all. This is their 2nd meal of solid soft food. Bowels are staying good and they LOVE the food. No coaxing had to be done at any feeding. This will help them and mom. She has 7 pups and now eats 6 to 8 times a day to supply her pups with milk.

We now have 2 pups drinking water. Now we need 5 more to do so.

As you will see in the videos and in the gallery, they are even becoming sure footed on the tile and flooring.

When I enter the xpen and lay down to play with them, they get pretty excited to see me. They kiss my face. They climb and do not let any obstacle interfere with where they want to go. They are pretty agile. I am impressed.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

4 Weeks Old

Here is the gallery.

This boy is on his back and so very comfortable.

The crew had no issues with their bowels. They are still solid so today I gave them more food - 2 cans worth and they once again ate it all but a small amount stuck to the dish. One has drank from the water on their own but no one else that I have noticed has. Water is the last to embrace and they are getting sufficient water intake from Mom's milk. They need to drink water before they go upstairs at night.

They are doing well with walking even on flooring. They are hardly slipping when they try. They are not doing well yet on the pads. I had a waterproof pad surrounding the pad so they had sure footing and that is what they were using consistently so now no waterproof pad. Let's see if that changes everything. They are too early and young to be pad trained. What we attempt is to get them started on where to go. The consistent will come.

Next thing we are going to do is take them out of the xpen but not for a few days. They just turn 4 weeks tonight. After they are used to eating and drinking they will go upstairs at night to sleep without mom. It is all a process. I have cameras and I can see them always on my ipad. Cinnamon is a watcher so she will watch the ipad when that occurs.

Exciting times plus a 6 week visit is coming.

1st Eats: 1 Day Shy of 4 Weeks

Here is the gallery.

Well, we tried food and 10 minutes - yes 10 minutes later they started to stop. Didn't need help. Nathan put them around it and left. I had set up a tripod face high and video'd them eating and they were wonderful. I guess they are ready. We will not give them any food till tomorrow. Why? It is important to see how their bowels are. With the introduction of food they will go more but hopefully stay solid. If they stay solid, more food will be given tomorrow. If they are loose, we will not feed them till tomorrow night to allow their bodies to adjust. It is a process we find works.

The pen is down that was against their pen for the Nami pups. Blankets are down so they can see out. Interesting enough Cinnamon is allowing Jeannie to be in here. She won't allow anyone that jumps into the pen but in the room is fine.

The pen that the Cinnamon pups had is significantly larger and exposed and they still sleep in a pile. They are huggers.

What is the next goal after feeding? To take them out upstairs and decrease the amount of blankets. Today they had a larger pen, blankets down so they can see out and eating. So far it's all going well.

We are also now stopping the weigh in after tonight as they jump out of the scale. They have shown I do not have to worry as they daily gain weight. I will check one here and there - just because.

I will be placing up videos shortly.

3 Weeks 5 Days

Here is the gallery.

Cinnamon today has been going to me - what another camera taking - vidseo taking time - really? I get that. She has so many expressions to tell you how she feels.

I was going to do puppy feeding on mousse today but it was way too busy. We will shoot for tomorrow. I hope you understand.

Each day the pups get more and more playful and doing wonders with their walking. Maybe tomorrow I will start them on floors in a small section in their pen. They have to get their sea legs so to speak on flooring. Blankets are just easier.

3 Weeks 4 Days

Here is the gallery.

I just took a video of the pups playing, climbing into and over my lap and lasting over 8 minutes. Each day brings more play. We will try them on food tomorrow or the next day.

They are fun pups. We have some real characters.

3 Weeks 3 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

Interesting enough I picked up the back and white and she screamed at me. I think for a moment she wasn't sure who I was even though I hold her many times a day. It was hysterical. Okay, I didn't let her know that. I simply looked at her. I put her up to my face and she started to give me kisses. I know I can be scary looking but still. LOL

This is all an exposure experience for all. I also woke her up to feed too so maybe being startled was a part of it. It's how they learn. Cinnamon is such a happy go lucky dog in the true sense. Ever see a gokden wag its tail in delight over most everything? That is Cinnamon. Always happy.

Pups are still gaining. We will try food and water in a few days. A few are actually getting to the pad on their own. Not all are as I have to change blankets. They are just getting their sea legs so to speak and yes, they are walking.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.

3 Weeks 2 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

The pups are indeed more active outside of the whelping box. It is more work as it is more real estate to clean but the benefits are so worth it for them.

I can lay in the pen with them and they come and kiss my face, my nose - it is totally delicious.

We have 1 boy that will be smaller than the rest. His bones are thinner and he gains at a slower but consistent rate. This is how you tell if they will be smaller. If they are not gaining daily, then you have to explore why but after all these years, it is easy to tell who will be smaller and is meant to be smaller. For instance one of our kids is 5'2" and another 6'1". This happens in the same family and is interesting how they each uniquely pull in the genes that make them who they are.

Maybe by Friday we will try them on starter mousse. We shall see. We have a lot on our plate this week so we shall see. We already have 1 consistently using the pad. That one is a genius. It's not the black and white one. LOL

The pups survived the night. We shall see how their weight gains are at the 8pm weigh in.

New Digs

Here is the gallery.

Took me a bit as I was doing it alone but the pups now have new surroundings. Cinnamon has not left them yet.

How did they do? Amazing. Some looked around. Some ate. Some just went to sleep but they are walking better.

They made the transition quite easily. No crazy nervous cries. Just curious and they have eaten. They have slept. They have practiced walking and they have interacted with each other.

I wonder when Cinnamon will come out to eat?

I call this a huge success. Next milestone will be using the pad. Full out play and eating food.

Be sure to check out the videos and don't forget about the shorts.
