Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 1:51PM Dennis and I are setting up Yoshi's pen so I am ready. It is a lot of work, to be honest. We have 2 hours into it and we are not done. It is like trying to find solution to a puzzle. I will add a photo when done.
Yoshi is not eating though she will partake in a duck treat.
Her temps are now still in 99s - 99.1. We need to drop to 98. She was uncomfortable last night but no nesting. I still hope she waits but her temps are going down and her mucous plug has been released so we need to keep her very clean in her private area. She is not a fan of temp taking but who is. I persist.
Right now, she hides in the laundryroom where I think she thinks she will have pups. I will acquaint her with the whelping box when we are done.
I cancelled groomings. I would be okay - though too much to do, if it wasn't for Yoshi's impending pups and Sage being in heat. When it rains, it pours.
This was not the best of timing to have his guys holiday. I said he owes me and he does. LOL
Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 7:31PM Started at noon. Temps were 99.9 and just at 730pm, it is sitting at 99.5. We will see what it is in the morning.
She refused to eat today so I thought I would start checking. We are waiting for a 98 temp.
Normal temps are 100 to 103 so she has dropped but hopefully a slow drop till Nathan is home Saturday night.
Crossing fingers 5 ways to Sunday as I do not have a single thing set up but going to put an emergency kit together in case.
Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 6:49AM In a couple of days, I will start taking her temps. I do not have her pen set up. So much to do and so little time. Best get with it.
Friday, September 12, 2025 at 1:19PM Morning sickness in pregnant dogs is a common occurrence that can cause discomfort and concern for both the expecting mother and for me. Usually in the later stage of pregnancy it is caused by crowding. She has indeed been growing by the day. Her 1st pregnancy she didn't have this issue. She had 2.
We will not know how many pups she will have but she is indeed getting large for a mom of her size. She will have small pups if anything like her 1st and will remain small. Yoshi is very healthy but she is small. Some do appreciate small where others like larger.
I feel bad as she has had some really persistent morning sickness. Pups never starve if mom is not eating. The pups will take every last bit of nutrition to survive. Same goes for humans. She is eating but about once a day a really high caloric amount. Yoshi will be okay. Being sick is not fun. I know, I am sick myself and still doing what I must.
She is due the day after her xray but we can have pups up to 3 days before due date and 3 days after. Her xray is on the 22nd. Nathan is back the 20th. So, we are cutting it close. So potentially we can have pups the 20th on. Will Nathan be back? I hope so. He is the whelper but if there are any issues, I am the whelper. I have managed to get stuck pups out etc So, I can do it all myself. Nathan gets too anxious when there are issues but he is proud he is the whelper so it makes us a team as I take videos, photos and take down the details. If I am whelping, someone has to watch the other dogs so I won't get the photos and the whelping experience so we hope he is back in time. I will do the best that I can.
That is my latest update.

Oh and her pups are kicking like crazy and I mean like crazy so they still have some room.

Talked Nathan in to get an xray.
Our repro vet said she is 10 days away from today. She indeed has 5 pups. So now my mind will stop racing and Nathan will be back for the whelping.
Friday, September 5, 2025 at 5:55PM Yoshi is back having tummy issues. She is growing immensely fast.
Nathan is away for his yearly guy trip so I may be doing her delivery myself but we shall see. She is due starting the day he is back.
If she keeps me up like the other 2, I may shoot myself.

Terrible photo and she needs a bath but she is semi over her morning sickness but not entirely there.
Thought you may want to know.

Poor Yoshi is in the thick of morning sickness. There are days she will only eat duck treats and a slight amount of mousse. She won't eat kibble. This is the timing but she has loose stools. You have to be careful what you can give pregnant moms so, we wait this one out. But I do have some meds that coat her tummy. She is better after it. She still is not eating a full meal but she will get through this.
Her xray is September 22nd and her 1st due date is the 23rd. We had to do the xrays so late as Nathan is away till the 21st with his annual guy trip. Thankfully I can deliver pups but I can't take video and photos at the same time. So, we will see how it goes.
Don't discuss the guy trip with me as I don't get one. It is what it is.
Poor Yoshi...

This was Yoshi's duo. One was a rindle, the other chocolate.

The moms to be are in the main gallery on the main blog.
Yoshi is a small gal. She had a very easy delivery and took care of her pups like they were treasured gold.
She is a truly outstanding mom who had a chocolate and a brown brindle her 1st litter. This willl be her 2nd one. Will she have more? Time will tell.
She is done breeding. We have yet to make an xray date but will.
3 litters - where will we fit them. LOL
